Chaotic Dungeoning with Didos
#41
Character: Masika
Which Event: Spirit of the Dunes

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): 10/10 Very nice response times, no issues.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): All of the battles were extremely fun, it didn't feel like there was anything that was just utterly overwhelming- and most of the fights were determined by our abilities as a group which I heavily appreciate 12/10

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): I heavily appreciate the vibes you provided from a story standpoint because of how they related to my character and her upbringing, bless you. 10/10

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): Exceptionally fair. 10/10

Overall: 11.5/10 I appreciate all of the work you put into this a whole lot, and you made it feel very special.

Any other comments: Thank you <3

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): 10/10 man was on point with em

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): The fights were a struggle, but in a good way, overcoming them felt like you won something. Mechanical effects in the fights were also funny. 12/10

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): I felt like I was going on a trip to find a sand spirit, and by the gods did i find more than just a sand spirit. 10/10

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?): If it was any fairer, it wouldn't have been an EC 10/10

Overall: 13/10 Man came and gave us exactly what we wanted, which was a sand filled trip.

Any other comments: Didos you owe me shoes. I will remember this.

Which Event: On Wings of Steel

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?):
Everything was posted within a pretty darn reasonable timeframe! No complaints there.
We did a lot of shenanigans that had to be reacted to on the fly by Didos, and he was always attentive, and supportive.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?):
We came prepared, and STILL got our asses handed to us. But it never felt unfair. Somehow, we managed to escape with no perms, but that was good luck on rolling, and clever management of in-event resources. Definitely awesome fights, the 60 FPS robot crab will haunt my dreams.
Out-of-combat uses of life-skills was also a lovely inclusion, it made it feel like caring about other things than combat was encouraged, which was great!

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
The story was a personal one to my character, and Didos definitely delivered. From the Ratkin tech-bandits, to the loose war machines, to the monster bird nemesis Mei was looking for... Expertly written.

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?)
It was a High Chance of Death-event, so the odds were stacked against us. It could have been so, soooo much worse for us had the dice not played ball, and had we not used our skillsets as well, and creatively as we had.
Brutal, but never unreasonable.

Overall:
10/10 event!

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): Very quick! the moment everyone had rp'd it was on to the next thing!

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): All the fights were based, would fight horrific metal-meat monsters any time of the day.

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
I didn't even have the full story of what was going on but I found myself interested by everything that happened!

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?)
It was HCOD, I went in expecting to die or get perm'd badly, but thanks to my OUTSTANDING luck that i'm about to jinx myself on, it went fairly well all things considered!

Overall:
10/10 event!

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?):
Quick yet really detailed responses, especially when it came to the quick time events.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?):
Really balanced event all around. Lots of fun scenarios where sacrifices had to be made to proceed, regarding player choices.

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
Top tier story telling.

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?)
Very fair for everyone involved. Someway, somehow made it out of that without a perm

Overall:
10/10 event.

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?):
Quick yet really detailed responses, especially given the long gaps between posts.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?):
Really balanced event all around. It felt like I was indeed there for a HCOD

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
I knew nothing of the land I went to going in, I learned 4 things coming out.

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?)
Very fair for everyone involved. Didn't die, despite being 15% age dr and nearly 90 years old. (came SCARY close tho)

Overall:
11/10 event.

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?):
Very responsive! I really liked the amount of detail that was put in during the event. I felt immersed the whole way through!

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?
The fights were well scaled and it matched the HCOD difficulty we were expecting!

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
I loved the additional lore

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?)
It was very fair. There were no issues with any of the injuries and the rewards were well thought out and worthwhile!

Overall:
Tons of fun! 10/10

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?):
I considered it relatively fast for the amount of posts we were all doing. Fuckton of posts, this event went long but hard. 8/10

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?):
Words cannot describe the actual fucking cold war that me and Vyldrax underwent. You would have to be there to witness just how much hater activity went on between the two of us as we indirectly tried to pray on each other's downfall. Other than that, the ECs had a clear gimmick with the flash spells, AoE spells, and murderous surge patterns... Traps were funny, one of them literally took me to Brazil and I think that's the last time I trust a Brazilian... Put me into a whole different room and started talking to me through an EC as my party goes through more traps. 10/10

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
I liked the lore! I found out a bit more about Esshar (I didn't play e3) and namely a specific little point of interest I might fuck around with later. 9/10

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?):
I thought they fit the theme and liked them. They will surely be put to good use in the coming times. 9/10

Overall:
Nobody drops a rating below 8 out of 10 let's be real.
But I definitely enjoyed it a lot, god knows I was close as fuck to dying today if not for me asking about Self Heal.
There was a mechanic where going -100 vit meant you're dead... Two of us went -92, that's after healing a temp.
You know shit is real when you're begging for a perm rather than a temp at this point.

Which Event: The Fortress of the Undying

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?):
Didos was very responsive, actively responding to roleplays even after the 'main' narration was posted, and they came fast which provided us with no stagnation in the event waiting for him.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?
Being spin-thrown into a bunch of bone zone talons was the highlight of the first fights... Most of the fights had clear sequences and allowed for proactive responses to actually survive. Unless you lagged, then you were no doubt going to get one shot by the 10x flash spells stacked on one another, heh, fuck tenias. We also had to deal with traps that unfortunately I couldn't escape and ended up getting bathed in acid. The fights were entertaining, and the traps involved me actively hoping another party member died.

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
I enjoyed it. It was very amusing having a peek at old characters from E3, the necromancy advice that was provided and also a little hint towards ongoing events in Meranthe.

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?)
Very good. We rolled poorly, we got bapped. We rolled well, we got bapped but less severely. The rewards were well tuned to the situation and fitting for the theme that was being presented.

Overall:
Very fun.. I am very glad we started early otherwise I probably would of passed out mid-scene though. I almost died considering there was clear DEMON AND UNDEAD BIAS, SELF-HEAL OP. It was funny when we all preferred perms over getting temps, and it's a shame I didn't get downed in the perfect situation where I could of killed off Tenias and seen him once more enter the death box.

Which Event: The Fortress of the Undying

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?):
Didos gave a much faster response time with full narrates than I did with my RPs. All questions were answered fairly quickly, given they had to juggle all five of us simultaneously.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?
The battles were enjoyable! Even when I got one hit by walking two steps over the BONEZONE or getting quadruple spin thrown into some poor snake person. When the bosses were too strong they were adjusted accordingly, awesome. Every fight had me laughing or terrified, peak battle entertainment.

As for the traps? Each one was pretty unique! The rolls were fair and when most of us rolled low, mercy was given to us. Pretty cool, since some were less fortunate than others.

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?):
The storytelling was interesting, despite my never playing E3. The event wasn’t overly convoluted, which I appreciate for my not-very-big brain.  Each narrate was peak writing, and met exceeded expectations!

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?)
We’re a group of pirates with some snake guy, every punishment is justified and/or earned.  The risk-to-reward ratio ended up being far more than worth it! Especially for our group, since most of us were related to the event’s themes.

Overall:
I loved the mechanics of this event!

The rules set out for us gave us a reason to strategize. We almost were forced to utilize one of our auction items! Since most of us had self-heal, I appreciated the implementation of its mechanic for our injuries. All in all, a 10/10 event, couldn’t have been any better.
