Perm Problem

1. Remove all boosters.
2. Replace them with a single item... potion of potential.
3. One simple recipe. Poppylus[Very Common] and [Any Type of Elemental Crystal].
4. You can mine uncharged crystals like ore. [Common]
5. Killing any of the current crystal mobs has a 100% chance to drop elemental essence with respect to the mob.
6. Artificiers can make Elemental Crystals with 1 elemental essence and 1 uncharged crystal.
7. Artificiers AND Alchemists get in on it for additional bonus RP.
8. Everybody wins.

Note : How it works.

Drink one, with one in your inventory and it brings up a context menu with which stat to improve.

Drink one, with multiple in your inventory, and it asks you how many would you like to consume? Pick a number. Pick a stat.

Add in bosses that guarantee a drop of twenty crystals on kill but require a party.

Think: Dungeon Kaor.

You and a group go fight the Gigalith-Grodolom and every kill rewards twenty crystals instead of requiring you to brainlessly stand in one spot for two hours to get 32 rabbits feet and 50 air crystals (9 perms btw).

its the other parts (scales feet amber fireflies) that are the long grinds the crystals are easy

That's why those are all replaced with poppylus. There's too much darn poppylus.

I do think x-boosters are a bit of a weird artefact from the past, and something more interesting could take their place. I do like the idea of alchemists being useful in the sense they can provide essentials (x-boosters, mana amnesias, etc). Also it's semi-related to monetization, so something to replace them for plat would be necessary. Really, a lot of this area is odd in general and could be overhauled.

I think that there should be no RNG involved with these drops, 1 kill = 1 drop. Then you can simply limit the drops by making the respawn cooldown of the monster longer.
