Perm Problem
#1
Now, let's talk about this. Recently I have been given the task of finishing boosters for a newly created character. This is something I have done many times before, but never since the new(newer?) changes. I'm not sure when they were implemented exactly, but they are something I'd like to talk about.

Myself and a group of two others thought we might farm them together as it would make it faster and we all need them. So we started talking and go together to skip out of our settlement and hit the grind. The only issue is, after being about.. fifteen minutes in we had enough materials to make exactly one booster. My thoughts is that we were entirely unlucky, so what I did was set a timer for half and hour and hit the grind again to make sure it was just a fluke.

Here is what I found in that half an hour.

We farmed for Agility X boosters in the spot where three lupine are collected above where Aphros once was-- coordinates 652, 565, 1. There while actively farming and paying attention in an attempt to gain boosters I gathered a total of...

13x Air Crystals.
6x Rabbit's Foot.

If you multiply that by three, for the sake of there were three of us, that brings us to 39x and 18x respectively. Now, if we look at the cost of Agility X boosters, which is.. Poppylus x3, Air Crystals x1 and Rabbit's Foot x3 it gives us a total of six crafted boosters within a half an hour out of the one-hundred and fifty we'd need. Not even to include the Poppylus you'd need to acquire, if you were to sit and farm for Rabbit's Foot and Air Crystals to do your boosters this means it would take on average a grand...

Twelve and a half hours to finish your boosters.

This is outrageous, at least in my opinion. I don't think the game should require this farming simply to be on terms with people who either have perms from starting with a lot of money(boxes for emerald tears or such other things) or generations upon generations of materials saved up. Yes, there are other boosters you can farm, namely the good other option here would be Power X boosters. These in contrast would take 1500 fireflies for the three of us to gather together on top of likely an hour of farming fire crystals. The issue is that these fireflies only spawn at certain times during the day and especially with a spawn wave like there is now, they are highly contested and everyone is out to grab them.

There are a couple of solutions I believe to this issue.
1 - Reduce the cost to create boosters.
2 - Increase the droprate of items from Lupin drastically.
3 - Remove boosters entirely.

I believe, personally, I'd go with the third option as I don't even see the point of boosters existing in the current game in the first place. It's just work to do before you're able to get out there and do your thing. We could just as easily spawn with an additional 50 statpoints.

Anyway, thank you all for listening. Have a good time out there.

2 is probably the best option. Boosters help to have new characters establish links and rapport with alchemists. But it shouldn't be a massive pain in the arse as it is. You should meet alchemists for boosters and artificers for enchants. But neither should be a massive chore.

As the maniac who has made far, far too many agility boosters for homies and for Xuefeng.. I agree in reducing the cost of them given how yaknow you need..

A hundred and fifty rabbit's feet to make a set of 50, from a mob that does not want to drop them- even if you have your group of 5 lets say.

I beg, please, let it be a slog to farm NO MORE.

i did it so everyone else has to, live through my agony

btw i have 50 air crystals and 50 rabbits feet, meaning i will have 100 air crystals simply left over by the time this is done

i have ten fireflies

I'm not really sure what boosters bring to the table in terms of the economy, since they're a one-time item. An established player never needs more, which means they're throughly either:

-a breeze for nepobabies
-an utter slog for new characters.

This leads to hostile game design, generally, where to have any hope of playing with the big boys, you have to slog through a terrible grind, or join a faction and beg for help.

I am generally for either reducing the cost of boosters, or removing them altogether in favor of more points on spawn (or maybe extra skill points when you hit 200, 210, etc).

Increasing mob droprates would be great. Mob-farming all day is an anti-RP experience that should be as minimal as possible.

Most perms are a pain in the ass to make and the problem is massively exacerbated because agi perms are realistically the only ones people should be using if they're building their stats correctly (read: capping when able).

I can't say I've ever had THIS problem while farming them, but I've always done it in large groups. Regardless, it's absolutely mind numbing and grinding for boosters is some of the most dull non-gameplay that new players have to experience.

If my first real goal in Eternia from never having played it before was "kill rabbits for two hours", I'd probably go play something else instead.
