Oh! The children, they gather... Guided by the hand of intuition that found resolve in their desire for returning... For while the creator speaks of acceptance, of love...What remains, still yet lingers. To absolve themselves in the spiritual sense, when bonding to the astral sea. Could he find the same forgiveness of the depths? Choices to which held consequences. Had never sought to escape his mind. He marches onward, all the same. Bringing with him, the select few. Who could perhaps alter the intentional fate of one who would have been met with, otherwise.

  Beauty of Annihilation [PUBLIC EVENT]

[Image: 960px-Pieter-Bruegel-the-Elder-The-Fall-...art-no.png]

Hands have held idle far too long.
Machinations brewing, amidst the blood of a hydra drowning the west.
Following the destruction of Pscaela, the City of Art that remained as the sole bastion of the darker powers swelled with the influx of newcomer. Entropy lead way to change... Yet plans of the city's leadership were briefly paused.

Until now.

The Shades of Mydaea's canvas, alongside a smaller contingent of Viritas' forces are seen making their way to the Tower of Aetius; the foot of the Gods' power in Meranthe, where Mount Pavonis once stood in ages past. They begin the first steps of a rite of black magic... With little effort made to conceal themselves.
She shall be freed.

[OOC: this is a public ritual. An intent to interrupt will follow raid-like rules.]

  The Gateway Of The Dead

Gateway Of The Dead
Somewhere on an island in Meranthe, there stands an old Torii gate. It looks old and poorly maintained, but despite what some might call poor maintenance, it still stands.
It is a path meant for the dead, a convergence point to the spirit realm, and an artifact of Mortyl. Watchful crows linger over the island, watching the steps of everyone treading on it.
Obvious danger rests on the isle because of it, should one be careless in their steps. Walking through the gate itself will lead one through a black, swirling vortex. An almost guaranteed death sentence to anyone without a guide.
Ever since the invasion of the perfect demon Indras, the island has been overcome with a sheen of rot and corrupted plant life, left behind by the sage of rot. A few ruined walls and stones from a tower litter the ground, half sunken into the earth even now.
Rumors
Touching the gate itself is said to bring harm and death to an individual, and all contact with it should be avoided.

There exist 4 gatekeepers. Of those, Salem, the oldest daughter of Mortyl, and Christophore, a mortal magi turned spirit, can sometimes be seen conversing with overly curious mortals.
While exploring appears to be permitted, trying to build or otherwise on the island appears to only bring ruin from large crows.
A peaceful end to one's life can be requested from the gatekeeper.

Quote:A people shrouded in mystery, though by all accounts born out of a nascent 'god' that ascended to power beyond the Ghost Sea, which has conquered the coasts of the Ka Shaer and the little islands that surround such a sea...

How exciting it must be. Mysteries, old and weird magic, danger. Just the perfect place to intrude on and see what wildlife and other beasts can be found and slain!

A group of hunters set out in the dead of night to make their way across the Ghost Sea, to directly make landfall on Ka Shaer. The best safaries are, afterall, where noone dares to go and where the most danger awaits one.

Attendees: A group or 4 hunters
Risk: LCOD
Reward: Hunted trophies of gorgon origin
Themes: Yynglan-Yi and Ka Shaer, Gorgons, Beasts, BIG GAME HUNTING

Lingering whispers of auditions done in the dark.

"Mortimer, Mortimer, Mortimer."
Rumor has it should you turn the lights off in your bathroom and repeat this thrice into a mirror?
A man appears.
A man who is looking for those who seek something beyond what the woe's of common life bring.
All you have to do too appease him is to put on a show of wonderful dramatics.
Then apparently, he will show you a way that goes off the beaten path, otherwise?
If he is not satisfied with your audition? He will kill you where you stand or even worse, supposedly.

(The Coven of Grand Guignol is recruiting. Should you be interested in a scene with its supreme PM The Akron Cavalier  in-game or message me on the forums so such can be set up. Otherwise find me icly I.E send me a letter etc!)

Quote:
The Spirit Realm is an incorporeal dimension parallel to the physical plane of Eternia, where 'Spirits' and other supernatural entities reside, unseen to most. When a creature succumbs to death, their spirit is said to pass into the beyond for an unspecified amount of time, considered the afterlife and eternal resting ground of all living things. Countless myths and beliefs have accumulated regarding the unseen aspects of the Spirit Realm, given its magical and boundless nature.

The many realms can be seen within the distant stars at night, as if peering into it through the sky directly, as each individual star is another floating world within this plane. The saying 'the dead watch over the living from above' certainly has merit. The color of a star correlates with the individual realm, clustered together in 'galaxies', where a bright gold one might be a planet in Vanaheim, or a bleak black star (known as a void star) represents the desolate planets of Helheim. An endless cosmos that's as mysterious as it is enchanting.

While it's nigh impossible to enter the outer worlds without the aid of a highly focused, magically intense ritual, there are known Points of Convergence through Eternia that act as a middle ground between the two. Highly unstable, magically charged regions that have supernatural mutations that vary depending on where it aligns with the netherworld. This also acts as a gateway for incorporeal creatures to slip back and forth, with the more powerful of them able to sustain themselves indefinitely within Eternia.
The Spirit Realm operates on a different set of rules than the physical world. The realm is seemingly infinite in every direction, geographies vary radically and often morph on whim, and gravity is not always constant. A common sight in the Spirit Realm is the physical manifestation of the lifestream in the form of tangible, spiraling streams of energy gliding around landscapes and horizons across the floating planets and endless sky.

The realm is populated by both humanoid and non-humanoid otherworldly beings, that are born, live, and die under different circumstances. Sentient life isn't as dense in the outer worlds; it's more spread out, with the occasional swathe of it. Most of the planets are absent of organized cultures or lifeforms, but organic matter is still plentiful. Creatures similar (but much different) to our own animals can be found in abundance, while intelligence similar to humanity is especially rare outside of the 'major' planets.

Yggdrasil, Tree of Convergence

Within its canopy, creatures of pure magical essence find refuge, their shimmering forms dancing amidst the radiant aura that surrounds Yggdrasil.
Mystical beings such as ethereal dragons and sentient spirits make their home among its branches, guardians of ancient wisdom and protectors of the cosmic balance.
Yggdrasil is not a mere tree but a living entity, its consciousness an amalgamation of the collective knowledge and essence of Eternia.
It is the fulcrum upon which the fate of realms pivots, a beacon of unity that binds the diverse tapestry of existence together, embodying the eternal cycle of magic, creation, and renewal within the vast expanse of the multiverse.

It is here in this place...that destiny intertwines and Nidhogg awaits those worthy for the secret knowledge held within.

And one particular Drakanite seeks truth in the knowledge, intending to find it.

  The Warden of Fate
Posted by: DragonDarklyDreaming - 07-15-2025, 04:45 PM - Forum: Lore - No Replies

As some know, fate and time are closely linked. Those that follow the weave of the stars might even believe that fate is predetermined. That none can chart a path that is not already laid out. Thus, then, time must flow towards those fates without alteration. Without change. However, both time magi and seers are quick to point out how both the flow of time and fate can be changed. Diverted. Primarily in small ways, of course... There are many events that loom in the future that are so large that they can seem to be impossible to get away from. But individuals often can yet affect the flow.

However, there are those who are not satisfied with the small changes that they can enact by making different choices. They desire greater control, greater influence, and so will often seek to manipulate time itself in order to change fate. Oneiros, the Master of Fate is one such individual that sought such power. Stealing an unwritten page from Memoria, this Nethradin gained the power to alter time and fate. Cultists and witches of Oneiros, and others inspired by such acts, might seek their own ways of changing the flow of time to their own benefit.

That is not, however, to say that the flow of time is undefended. Champions of Memoria and Gala both seek to preserve the proper way of things. Their priests, their faithful, safeguard much in the world. And some few go beyond, leaving this world behind to become eternal wardens of Fate and Time.

It is said that one such Warden, tied deeply to Memoria, can yet be contacted by those in Meranthe. To those attuned to the flow of fate, and in places where such things are stronger, they can call upon this strange spirit for advice or aid. Some claim this spirit was once a citizen of Meranthe, whilst others believe it is merely a manifestation of time's whims. But spiritmancers who look towards the flow of fate do occasionally mention a strange entity that seems more concerned with the fate of Meranthe than most.
