Alone in the throne room of Altharim a Oni mutters to themselves as they sit on the throne and look over the room.
Quote:"Its Been a while.....to long even. I'm sorry it took us this long. But...now its time to finally do what we had planned. A chance to finally give you all a resting place."
Soon carriers are seen leaving the castle of Altharim and heading in each direction papers in hand. The papers were posted in each major city besides Viritas. Each welcoming all that wish to come honor Ishildr E. Sun, Za'agan Sun and Cadis to come to their funeral and see the three buried in their final resting places looking over the city they helped build and protect. Along the bottom it lists Venus Kasca as the main priest for the event but priests of other faiths are free to offer their blessings for the deceased and prayers to those that attend.

Are you happy? |

"Are you happy?"
"I am!"
You were.
Happier than you'd ever been, it seemed.
Everyone noticed.
Some thought your body stolen.
Some thought it an act.
Some thought it no more than a second wind.
You no longer held a connection to the Abyss. You no longer tortured yourself to cling on to another's power.
Even the helmet was gone.
I was so different.
A month passed.
"Are you happy?"
"Of course!"
A year.
"Are you happy?"
"A few headaches to deal with, but I am."
"You're asking that a lot. Is there a reason?"
Has it really been a decade?
"Are you happy?"
"... Less."
The usual ghosts.
The ones you were meant to be past, when you learnt to let others in.
Down and down it sinks and falls.
You changed your heart and now it stalls.
How much did you lose when she changed you so?
You've lost so much, it's time to go.
Would that this could be blamed on the Weaver.
She cannot hurt anyone anymore.
You're safe, Aricles.
This is how you've always been.
You retreat. You put up walls. All because-
"Death, disappearance, departure."
"...I still don't get it. Speak plainly."
"Most of the people I have ever cared to know fall into one of those categories."
You were meant to be past this.
The first sixty years were wasted in a cage of your own making; the hands of others reaching in time and time again, while you refused to take them.
Up until the day you were meant to die.
An end of your own making, once some of those hands had enough.
And still, so many tried to save you.
Right until your final moments,
When they dragged you out of that cage.
When I became an Aerodyne.
But you are back here, again.
Why was it, that-
It only took a few more deaths to set me back.
You weren't even that close. A King and Queen, who just reminded you of Marfons and Rio.
Two more left, by choice, but you claimed you would celebrate their journey.
Then you kept your distance, even when others reached.
But I don't feel a want to know... Anyone, right now.
A decade can pass. More faces will vanish, blur, appear. It won't feel different.
"... Are you happy?"
"..."
"... I think she saw something I didn't, from the first day."
I was so different after everything happened. Energetic, happy, excited for the future.
Everyone noticed.
I think I've slipped. Or never really made it out.
Everyone noticed.
They just don't bring it up, if you don't.
"I thought so too, you seemed so happy at first. What changed?"
"Okay, that right there is your problem."
"You think of having another child and immediately go 'To have a child is to suffer loss'."
Because mine was murdered in front of me.
... I always think of the worst possibilities. It is how I've stayed alive.
"That pessimism is why you remain miserable despite leading a life that many envy, would kill for even, would describe as nothing short of 'perfect'."
Nearly fifty years, since that first conversation.
You were there for a different reason, but you don't remember it.
You remember speaking to her, and being given that book.
Someone who was willing to throw away their life, for even a chance at stopping your execution.
When you had kept them at a distance, as all the others, for all the years before and since.
You didn't even read the book.
There comes a point where others stop trying, if you never take their hand.
The last time brought you to the Cleansing Oak.
It was meant to be the last.
You still have the book.
Maybe it's time to open it?
You need humans, little Aricles.

You are:
Aged between 11 and 13.
A quirky human.
Shipwrecked, washed ashore on Meranthe with no memories.
Drawn to the surname "Virtuoso."
Perhaps you were alone, perhaps you were with others. You laid on the shore, on the cusp of death. Your lungs wrung of air, your mouth a basin for seasalt, a lone woman sat over you and whispered a haggard plea. Splitting into rainbow light you recall her fading, and warmth returning to your body, no matter how unfamiliarly vibrant and strange you feel.
You are drawn to invention, creation and making something of what has been destroyed.
You are possibly aloof, possibly eccentric and entirely unconventional: given your saviour's cartoonish disposition and your amnesia, you will likely be highly unusual, carrying your own unique quirks, behaviours and speech.
You have one of Scheherazade's artifacts, each one uniquely potent.
You will represent one of the colours of the rainbow, your skin carrying that same hue. Someone who is red may be beholden to fire and passion, someone who is blue may be beholden to water and melancholy, someone who is green may be beholden to peace and growth. Put your own spin on it!
You have a small cloud companion, split from the Djinn's nimbus: it is a minor spirit.
You can have pointy ears if you desire.
Dandeli will dress you and draw you a small profile picture.
You are just a human, and your subtly unique physiology grants you no additional benefits.
Your "Mother"* *unverifiable and "Saviour."** **verifiable
Scheherazade Virtuoso, Djinn of Mestra
Tempest / Thunder / Lightning
Your recollection of your 'saviour' is murky, given your amnesia. Upon washing on the shores you recall her uttering a wish and disappearing into light. Whether this tells of her death or otherwise is uncertain, but you know you have been irreversibly changed by her act of kindness.
Leaving an imprint of her own memories upon you, you can recall various occasions when she granted wishes, the Djinn sent from the heavens in all sorts of odd carriages (such as vases, or lamps, or hampers, or even a folded towel) to help the poor, lost and hopeless by making them the marvels and majesties they desired.
Meranthe more commonly remembers her as one of Mestra's last Djinn that fell unto Meranthe in a shoddy, sneezing lamp, stricken with an almost unsatiable rage due to mankind's inability to save her God. This tempestuous attitude one day disappeared, however, soon replaced with her old time calling: to show humanity from ruin one can build.
Until her disappearance, she travelled and spread joy through creation.
If needed, DM sgt.dandeli on discord.

Haah... It isn't fair. One-hundred-and-sixty long years...
A century, and a half of bamboozling you two-legs...
Or maybe I ended up tricking myself, in the end?
I feel myself slowly unravel. Age, despite this fluid body of mine...
It won't produce any more slime.
I guess this is the end for the greatest Arcana Duelist of all time!
(That bitey guy doesn't count, I definitely lost on purpose!)
Maybe my children will claim the crown for themselves?
Or will you stay in the world I made beneath the earth?
Hm-hm-hm. Who knows.
Well, there's just one last thing to do now.
My oldest, dearest possession... The very kind of card I defeated that Djinn with, ehehe.
Dyaus... No hard feelings, right? In a way, you saved my life back then.
When everyone was hunting me for being a demon.
When you made me something greater.
I didn't waste that wish, see? I survived. Until I began to fall apart.
Will you partake in a final little game with me, hmm?
All of Meranthe will be your opponents...!
Somewhere, I've buried this card of mine.
Deep in the soil.
Whoever can dig it up, wins the game!
Doesn't that sound like fun?
One last game.
I wish I could see the winner...!
Ehe-... Eheh-... Heh...
Goopbye, everyone...!
(DISCLAIMER!)
Don't actually put the card in a deck! That removes the foil-effect...!

Quote:Seeking Yynglan-Yi individuals who would be interested in assisting with a ritual deeply related to our people and history. Should you find yourself interested, please forward a letter to T'alyssi Kaess'th or seek me out in person within the walls of Aetius. It is of great importance and time sensitivity so that we might complete the ritual. Should you not be of our kin, but still in some way have some connection to the claimed 'Serpent God' please do reach out as well as any information or assistance would be appreciated.
- T'alyssi Kaess'th
The flyer is posted up around Meranthe in all locations, and surprisingly even in Viritas thanks to a handy messenger.

Quote:"May the Kingdom thrive always, and shall it's people forever push for their ambitions" -Lucion H. Fair
The city of Caethir begins to stir, whispers weaving through its streets as news travels around of a monumental announcement set to happen at the turn of the new year. All who wish to bear witness are urged to arrive, for what will happen is not merely a declaration—but the dawn of a new era. A shift in the kingdom’s fate draws near, and with it, a decision destined to further shape it's future.

By postings, courier and word of mouth does news travel across the Republic.
The sister-cities of Gloomlight Grove and the Martyr's Vigil have endured many years of war in the previous decade, but as a brief period of silence follows, news of a joint training session held between those of the Bastion and those of Goldlight Order soon surfaces. Diligence is required, and now more than ever the newer generation of soldier-magi need hone and sharpen their capabilities. Following tradition, construction laborors and various non-magi began to prepare a watchtower between the two factions. A Mock Battle to come, a continuation of the previous exchange known as Steel and Stone II.
Alaric Bargiel, the Commander of the Bastion Wrote:For many generations have Gloomlight Grove and the Goldlight Order stood together to represent what is largely today known as 'the Republic.' Together we have endured many great sacrifices and championed many great victories for Meranthe. Now, we stand together again, in the name of growth and comradery, to sharpen the blades and hone the shields of the generation to come. As my mother once said,
'It is our duty to never grow complacent'
For the Republic, for Meranthe.
As per tradition, this battle will be held at the watchtower between the two cities. The Bastion will be tasked with defending the keep, whilst the Goldlight Order is tasked with invasion and conquering the tower. An opportunity for the lesser ranking soldiers of each military to display their capabilities and leadership skills; while simultaenously an opportunity for relations to be built between the sistering factions as they prepare for future endeavors. Their greatest strengths, in their union.
Objective: A mock siege between the Republic.
Date: Friday July 25th, 5PM EST.

Quote:Oi! Have ya heard the whispers? Spreading like wildfire from the East, they is! Just up above the Shadowlands, mind you!
They sayin' - and mind you, this is just what they're sayin' - that there was a ruckus up there! And get this; some scrawny, green-faced ORPHAN child, no older than a rabbit, tried to take on Varrach himself! Can you believe it? Varrach! The one they call the God-Slayer!
... See, word is, the place looked like a butcher's yard, some true blue warzone, with magic flaring and the ground cracking! Though, as you know with them magis, it could have just been a few fancy sparks, but it looked impressive to us simple folk watching, eh? Still, they swear many fell, though no one knows if by blade or spell, or just from sheer terror! Wahaha!
But here's the peculiar bi; they claim this slip of a girl, this mere child, had something stolen from her by him. Something important, they say. What could it have been? A trinket? A memory? Her very soul, perhaps? Well, s'enough to try takin' em on mano-a-niñe, or however ya say it. Huh? It's still mano e mano...? Well, ya learn somethin' new, s'pose.
Well, she fought him! A child, they say! Fought hard enough to make the earth tremble! But then, the strangest thing; they say Varrach, the demon-blooded imperfect himself, he... He talked her down! Can you imagine? Not a single blast, not a crushing curse ta lay her flat, just words! And she, the little whelp, she walked away! Not just walked, mind you, but with a souvenir of sorts! Some say a mark, some say a gift, ahhh, but others whisper... A pact.
How peculiar, eh?! Let's just pray that poor, mad girl takes a different path from now on. No good can come of picking fights with demigods and ancient horrors, can it? Hah! But what a tale, eh? A child, Varrach, and a strange souvenir! The world's gone topsy-turvy, mark my words!
Mark 'em well!
