Rewards are nice. Activity Points rewarded is fine but no stats. Something cuter can be thought of. For writing that feels it needs more rewards beyond a hidden and IP then. Or make IP make some sense. 1 IP for all intermediates and masters is kinda wild considering it was proposed that 1 SoE=1 IP. Those costs should really be adjusted. Or, for good RP, good writing, a nice character, lower costs or like Milly suggested, IP in exchange for perm healing or less severity. Stats are very OOC. Use the already existing system a bit more and flesh it out quite a bit!

it's a good thing
are you a good writer? good player? and by that i mean a good sport, cooperative, and playing this game to actually write stories for both yourself and other people? perhaps you're even playing the game to tell OTHER people a good story...
if so, I think you should be rewarded for that.
it's admin favoritism, 100%. you know how you gain that favoritism? by being a model player, both in conduct and quality of play / writing.

I guess we'll also eternally believe that our admins are too inept and incapable of giving rewards to players that aren't their friends and doing stuff actively.

i wouldn't consider a commendation anything different than a hidden spell (though likely less game changing)
ultimately the goal of those reading the rp logs/watching the world is to uplift players that are story focused, and just like a spell, this is an element of influence. i wouldn't even compare it to the rpp modifiers of spires because the process for rewarding is completely different and so are the stat layouts; it's not 2x rpp gain or anything like that. it's "you're 205rpl when you would've been 200rpl, and you have +10 sp. cool"
it also fits nicely into the journal system. it's something small to reward someone with when a hidden feels like too much where you like what they have but they're early in, which imo the game was lacking somewhat, and this helps to bridge that a little
as for journals in general, i think the main benefit will be a lack of pressure on both the player and the admin side. as a player, you aren't submitting 14 logs for review, then potentially resubmitting it in a carrot-stick method for a particular thing, but you're just writing out the story that will be archived for all to see when your character passes. it moves the direction away from a want to obtain x spells to become the strongest and rather more of an organic process where the purpose is simply writing and showcasing your character in a cool thread to look back on in the future (and maybe you get some bonuses along the way, maybe not)
