Granddaughter of Athelios, the god of light and shadow, night and day, rivalry, justice and forgotten places. History claims that Aethelwine proclaimed herself the Goddess of Justice in honour of her father and sought to aid him in keeping the dark forces at bay in Helheim, only to be soon after humbled for her brashness. Through unknown means, her personality and ambitions were ever so slightly twisted by an entity unknown to historians.
She is now known as the Goddess of Impartiality, no longer upholding righteous laws in the name of good, but instead seeking to bring impartial judgement upon all who has inflicted pain upon others- whether it be for good or for bad. Now obsessed with inflicting those who sinned with the same pain their victims have felt, it is said that wounds inflicted in her presence is mirrored onto the inflictor.
The Goddess is known to keep mortal Acolytes by her side, granting them immunity from her wrath whilst they pass out judgement in her name. She is known to steal the souls of her Acolytes to keep a watchful eye over them, in return granting them the boons of Black Magic.
Rumors
The validity of these claims is up to speculation.
- A dark and powerful entity within Helheim that not even Athelios, the God of Light and Shadow, could supress, is said to have manipulated the Goddess into a contract that transformed her.

- Pain and injury is said to be mirrored onto the inflictor in her presence, her Divine Right now that of Impartial Justice.
- Historians claim she adorned an appearance of a holy Angel prior to her sudden change, her angel-like wings being strong proof for such claims.
- Some claim that it was her grandfather, Athelios, who somehow caused the sudden change in Aethelwine, though it is highly debated as most presume the Goddess would have been slain by the God due to her newfound connection with the Black Magic.
- The Goddess can peer through the eyes of mortals, able to seeing their soul and the sins within it.
Lorekeeper - OOC
This is a lorekeeper: A character played by a DM that has an active role in the world. They are different from standard PCs as follows,
- Cannot join raids unless they're specifically a target; this includes all offensive battles.
- Cannot intervene through combat to prevent a capture or be intervened on.
- Should avoid roaming the map if it could potentially lead to hostilities unless disguised.
- Can host mini-events, spawn items, etc, with GM supervision. Also acts as a mentor figure and gateway to potential magic or plot hooks.
- Can kill / be a threat, but should do so with good reason and at a high standard.
OOC Notes for Acolytes
- The "Book of Shadows" items is Aethelwine's wings, you must setup a scene to interact with it.
- You sign away your soul by sealing it into her wings.
- Hex should be used on targets to try and make them avoid fights, nerfing the instigator if they refuse to back down. Cannot/should not be used if the fighting is mutually agreed upon.
- You are marked upon your back as an Acolyte, yet it is hidden by magic whilst outside Aethelwine's realm-- it is only when you are knocked out that the mark is revealed and can be seen.
