Let's talk about Stalls!
#1
So, I went and had a little talk in the discord discussions, and I think that made me realize why we have so many problems with stalls in Eternia when we have so many at this point. It seems to be a popular opinion that you should just grab up any stall any time you see it, regardless of if you have things to sell, because you'll totally have things to sell later!

Okay but a lot of people don't. There's so many shops around that just are empty, almost empty, don't have priced wares, or hardly have anything actually in the shop!

I can understand the basis of this thought as while there ARE plenty of shops, there's even more players, so it's hard to come by one! Though, let's take a step back.

Here, have a big assortment of tons of shops across Esshar that are either unproperly stocked, or close to it.

Professionally made in MSpaint.
Yes, I understand a few of these shops restock on a weekly basis, such as Ethric's! (Or at least it seems to be on a weekly basis.) But a surprising amount of these shops have been like this for quite a while! Either players have gone inactive, or, in some cases, people buy a stall and don't have the appropriate stock to actually sell anything worthwhile!

This wouldn't be a problem if people would actually commit and begin to properly stock their stall with enough time given, but that seems to not be the case all the time, I mean- just look. This isn't even all of the stalls like this, I left out quite a few.

So what is the point of this post?

If you do not have the appropriate motivation to stock your stall so it's an actual functioning stall where items that people will buy, are being sold! And your items are actually priced appropriately! Then please do not rent a stall!1!!11 There are tons of people out there who DO have stock they want to sell to Esshar and are being locked out because of stalls like above! And mind you, a lot of these stalls have crazy prices, or have items that aren't even priced! I personally think something should be done, such as a system put in place in that if you don't properly upkeep your stall with a certain amount of priced items every week, then it should be free for the taking by another player who will- but, I realize I tend to go way too far and harsh with systems or punishments. So, I'm just leaving this thread here.

Hopefully someone can come up with a problem to this, because the problem of worthless stalls/trashbins/extra containers has been around wayyy too long, and the recent public ruling clearly isn't fixing it when there's still this many. Sad

We did a cleanse like two or three days ago. and most of those stalls that you  point out as you said restock weekly-daily, twice a week, three-time a week, we can't really force players to be always on top of all of their shops for the following reason:

1.- It's a game.
2.- Sometimes people are struggling to play the game, rp, farm reagents and it takes them more time to refill their shop, and it's not fair to push them because they don't have 10+ or more hours to get online to spend it farming and then restock rapidly their shops.
3.-Everybody has their own time.

Of course, this doesn't excuse people that neglect their shops for 2 or more weeks, which is not the case most of the time.

Yes! I pointed out that there are a few there that restock occasionally, but a surprising amount of those actually don't from what I've seen as- I'm a regular market goer. To name a few, Goods and Chattels, Unknown Building, Aries' Eats, General Store (well, I see their stock change so maybe? But it's always low.), Imagine's Items, Joyous Wares, Almost Alchemist Barbara, Aencient Alchemy, and New Cheap Ratty Deals!

Mind you, I'm not considering adding 1-3  items every few days as a restock. I see these shops consistently low on supplies or having items unpriced/overpriced in that they will practically never sell.

To add to this, there are a few completely new shops that people bought and aren't even really using after the newest update!

While yes, it's a game, and yes everyone has their own time and others are struggling, you can't tell me every single one of these fall into the category of irl problems. Yes, some of them are, and it's completely understandable. But many of them also, are not, and are just people using them because they want a stall even though they only have trash to sell. Like, c'mon. There's even two new shops that opened up under the same name, so clearly there's a group working together- and their stock still leaves a lot to be desired!

While I agree with this, it wouldn't be an issue in the first place if the grind for materials wasn't so difficult, even for NEETs like me. Imagine if you didn't have the luxury to no-life this game... You wouldn't be able to stock much of anything.

Almost Alchemist Barbara, Aencient Alchemy (that name is turning me into a macaco) and Unknown building (depending on what one it is) are all new shops.

Albeit you're speaking as if you were roleplaying a drug addicted fae, I kinda agree with some points. Yes, maybe stalls should be purged if they've been inactive for some time (20 days?), but that kind of... Already happened.

And I'm almost sure most of the stalls you've mentioned are... from this wipe, save for the ones I highlithed (i dont know how to spell thsi sorry).

Also, increase the droprate on crystals.

One, we can't take away the agency from the player to manage their own selling price and the like, we can't force them to have a price (that is not overpriced to a point that is 100k or something.) and two, 1-3 items every few days is should fine.

Really, I can't speak for each and every one of them and say that they fall into the category of IRL problems, but life is hard, people are just trying to have fun and it's really hard to keep them always stock even for people that are very active. I'm a shop searcher, I love surfing through them and I safely can say that most of them do restock, and in top of that, most of them also get clean within seconds, so it's really hard to keep track in everyone of them all the time.

Yes, I agree, it's hard to grind materials. but that is also how the prices don't go from 150c for an agi x to 100c in less than a day.

did u just take a screenshot of my shop when i restock it every day and it gets almost all sold out within hours?

not only does this show a big lack of actual research but it also shows way too much effort for something that isn't even a real problem considering empty/inactive stalls get cleared every now and then

here to add insult to injury:

i literally fill it up and it goes

Which one is yours, because holy wow if I've been missing the restock every single day when I've been checking all these shops on a daily for a whole week now in preparation for this, I'm not even mad, I'm just sad.

Edit: Nvm saw the rest of your post.

Edit 2: that's just pain.

But regardless, the point still stands that there are a ton of shops out there making the issue I'm pointing out >:(
I know it's not something that's easy to fix by any means, but that's why I made this thread, as a discussion for how to further fix this issue!

Now, I can't speak for a lot of these, but I'll throw in my two cents bc one of these shops are mine;

Aesirheim just got it's shops late-ish yesterday...if memory serves at least (at least late-ish for us CST folk), I managed to buy mine off of the heels of a scene, and very quickly spammed in some Mana Amnesias and Blackouts because I know those are pretty reliable sellers, before I needed to get offline for the day basically.

Then I slept from 12 to 3 because I was exhausted.

The shops just started to exist, pls, give us more than half a day to stock them up. (Which, I've done moreso now that I've had the chance)

"Unproperly stocked"
Who made you King Merchant? Where is Avee?

In all seriousness, the wording choice makes me wince. Some shops are new, and others just take time to make things. A LOT of those shops you showed in screenshots had crafted goods, and energy is a finite resource that you need to not only craft but also sometimes gather, and then you must rest. Having 2 rows of potions or actually made gear isn't being "Unproperly stocked". Just because it isn't to your specifications doesn't mean they should lose their hard work.

Not to mention, as Penguin and Jumpy both have said, we do go through and clear out seemingly unused/empty stalls and put them back up for rent.
