Penalty Game

[Chasing Daybreak]

A laser beam cuts through the air. Aimed right at the cliff that the Don finds himself perched upon. It'd be a trivial matter for him to simply jump away, or otherwise block or negate the attack. If unimpeded, the condensed beam of magical energy would blow through the rockface, and in short order collapse the very ground where Alexei now stood.

"Who are you- ? Do you have a death wish?"

The former Don demanded, his black gloved hand immediately raising into a fist... and with the motion, pillars of stone ignite behind Ky, entrapping him in a dome that forms half a circle, forced to confront the man he so boldly attacked.

Who am I?

A smirk crosses the mans face. Near childlike in its splendor.

The only response from Ky is to step forward. The earth cracking apart at his feet as he enhances himself to the fullest of his ability and sets off like lightning, a flurry of movement that aims to close the distance between himself and his target as quickly as possible.

At last, Ky speaks, a question-

"Have you ever considered what you'd be without magic, Alexei?"

And, without waiting for an answer--

"It's time to go home and be a family man."

"Without magic? I'd be dead," comes his threatening whisper, as he nearly takes the maddened cosmic magi's neck away with a stabbing thrust that has him ride the air, twisting in a turn from the propelling energy to meet his challenger once again, a wide, fanged smile.

"Don't you think?"

"If only because of the abuse you've wrought with it!" Ky howls back at the man, "I'll make you see, first hand, what life is like without power over others!"

Ky Linnen... I, Alexei Docro, accept your challenge!

You choose the arena and the time. I'll be there.

But let's up the stakes and turn this into a true test of will and wit. The victor of this battle will remove the sword hand of the other person, lopped off right at the wrist with the aid of a sharp blade.

This is a penalty game. What's the point if you don't put it all on the line, after all?
