Nethradin: Genuinely useless
#11
i am 100% against nethradin just starting with riftmancy.
because that isn't fair to the people who have to actually develop it. (yes i'm biased, so what?)

i think dreamwalk should be given back, yes. it's a good rp tool.
as for other things? i am not sure at this time.

I would love dreamwalk if only because it saves me the effort of a journal entry.

"I will say that lategame equipment far exceeds the numbers you're projecting. Some weapons have between 60-70 power, and there's even armors that grant like +5-10 power per slot. Admittedly, these are hard to get, but considered these are also the sort of folk that come to curbstomp monsters into the ground for having a barbecue too loudly after 8 PM, we do need to weigh 'lategame' into consideration with monsters."

see this just isn't 'common equipment' to me though, that's not lategame items, that's uniques and uniques are their own tier.
i'm sure nethradin could app for similar things, folks have discussed monster-app equipment on discord pretty positively

EDIT: sorry for not using the quote function im not sure how it works because i mostly just realized it actually exists

Forgive me for being out of the loop but in what ways were Nethradin using witchcraft wrong? Thinking maybe there's simply a way to remedy that issue. Just a suggestion though since I have no idea where things are in terms of balancing only just recently having come back.

Personally, I think you are looking at Nethradin in the wrong way.

All of the monster races are meant to be antagonistic characters that provide the game world with some conflict that isn't just endless repetitive WAR.

Nethradin in particular have a very special dynamic of being creatures from Hel itself. Tied closely to the Dark Lord and in turn, witchcraft in general. As has been mentioned already monster characters aren't really meant to act as a single faction, not even the ones from the Shadowmire. They were meant to provide focused, personal villain characters for other PCs that are a part of the regular player base. I think a lot of people have made the mistake of looking at these monster characters and assuming that they were designed to be like any other human, drakanite or beastkin PC, when they just aren't.

Nethradin in particular probably shouldn't be focusing on personal power as much as the power of the characters around them. They are uniquely capable from their IC to be able to easily empower and streamline their development towards the Occult and towards Hel. I believe you would find more enjoyment out of playing them as more of a supporting role, then a direct antagonistic role.

You could finally RP the opposite of what you are IRL.

Maybe look at the IC of RPing a dark spirit with ties to Hel'heim being available instead of trying to be OP and one shot people. So far, only one Nethradin has RPed with Jianyu since Shadowmire became a thing. You should focus on simply providing RP, given that this is a RP game and not a PVP game, or improve your verb, regardless, revel in the fact that Nethradin are essentially freely available in the game and not locked behind apps and a hidden ability like in Spires. Maybe they should be locked behind those again.
