'Liche' - [ENOS EVENT?!]
#1
Rainbow
The last evening of 2174 AC.

The dawn of winter. The cold.

A force is spied creeping among the mountains. Far and away, alien to the banners of Stonehaven and the Temple of Man, Enos, these retinues of soldiers do not need much investigation. All that is found are bones. Skeletal ledgers, horned helms, spears, and nets. Tools employed in ballistae and for that of which dragon-hunters might tread. So what is an army of supposed dragonslayers doing moving again, long after their demise?

They weren't big at first. Pairs and quadruplets, small families of the undead. Mostly thoughtless, with few organizing ranks among their numbers.

These reports end, and then they come back.

Legions flying no banner, no herald, but the varying hides and skins of everything in the land they could pluck. Rabbits, wolves, bears, mammoths, big and small, skins are stitched across some great horror. Lanterns in the blizzard go missing. Missing person reports accumulate in no small amount. A missive rolls out through Enos, pieced together from the dreams of their priests and denizens.
...
Quote:You did not circumvent me before, Kosta Garijn. You have grown more than I thought possible from a child that was sure to get herself killed.

You will burden much more than a stone when I return.
And now I am here.

The lanterns are back.

A chill morning in the first days of 2175.
In the few light hours of the winter months.

Winter was the quiet season. The season of rest, of recuperation, where the cold often bit too deep to travel.  The few that did, did so sparingly. Hunters, trappers, and traveling merchants moved in smaller  more experienced groups, less often  and with much higher safety precautions taken in mind. So when the first set of expected travelers vanished without reports of an avalanche or storm that could have swept them away the townsfolk became alert.

A few people searched the paths, expecting perhaps an unfortunate bear attack, or similar, but what they found was imagery of horror.
Quickly the alarm was raised, and the traversal on the mountain halted completely, yet...

In the long winter of 2175, there was no rest in the Temple of Man. Soldiers, priests, and contractors dug trenches in the snow, they set spears against charges, they settled pots of boiling oil by windows. It was not too many years ago, when another had threatened to march into the mountains to raise the Temple of Man with an attack that never came, yet the defences built to repel it would find new purpose in shielding against the coming dark.

The priests of Ualdir prayed that the dead be sundered.
The priests of Enarr prayed that the fortifications shall hold.

And when the time came and the unnatural beasts reared their heads at the horizon, the Skullcrusher stood upon the parapet and spoke:
Quote:We've heard the whispers.
Seen the signs.
Lost our friends...

We know that the coward Aisenliche marches against us.
We know he craves fear, he craves terror...
Yet he probably craves the company of a fellow man most of all, for how tragically lonely must a mortal be to have to craft his own puppet army from that of dead beasts and men, to gain someone who would stand for his cause?

I can only pity his pathetic state of existence, yet no mercy hall be shown, for he now threatens to consume us.

So I call upon you today. Soldiers of the north. Friends and allies of the people of Enos. Citizens.

Turn to your partners, family and friends. Find belonging with your neighbour and warmth in their company.
Find cause together with the strangers that now have gathered to stand  up against this craven fool.
Find honour and bravery within your hearts to battle this darkness that dares to threaten our home for we have what he never had and never will.

Unity.

And united, we STAND against the FEL that threatens our lands, our home, our hearth!
United we rise to fend off the evil that dares to show its ugly face and to think it has a chance!

TO ARMS. FOR ENOS. FOR MANKIND.
OOC: Thanks a ton to Saevara's player who helped me write a draft for this <3 Much love.

Early 2175, as the forces prepare for the imminent clash...

A light would appear outside of Enos Temple.

A light of hope.

A light of defiance.

A lantern of golden hue, to replace those missing lanterns in the snow.

A lantern of power, to guide those souls lost in the snow back to the stars.

But most of all:

A lantern of war.  A line in the sand.

Or perhaps...

A light of defiance to snuff out, like the rest of the missing lights.
