Cornered in the remains of Prospera did the Demon Sage of Judgement Allinaes and his lieutenant, the Imperfect Ennui, find their own purgation rendered as but part of a greater act. The Exaltation of Summer. A grandiose invocation of the seasons in the name of Nemea and all the many spirits which align to Her cause within the cosmos - a rousing of the landscape to a full and critical realization of its own part of Meranthe's inherently passionate seasonal essences. The lamplight flowers of Summer native to the surrounds stoked to a roaring holyflame danced and spread by the silver winds of life's flow. Graceful, yet fierce, a face of the world's turn which does not permit itself easily - and does not permit just anything to withstand its power once called upon. Of abandoned ruins and demonic designs consumed in conflagration by the work of the Delphinan host come to deliver the hunt of Nemea upon the Atrellyans, reinvigorate the land to Her grace's content, and bask in the miraculous brightness and warmth of it all once done: So too, a stroke of loss. The arrival of Summer, spelling a departure of Spring as it was found in the kindly, gentle Ent of Nemea: Canopy. The toll of herself paid, that another might be spared in the throes of battle brought to their feverish climax.

From which the land came alight, and became its own weapon. Breathing in the weight of filth and impurities upon it - and in that moment made the furnace by which it would all burn away. Burning bright, those lanterns of Summer to be seen so far over the horizon for nights and nights to come. Burning high, the rising ash of seared by the season's hallowed flame - touched by an antithesis not quite to destruction, but to a notion that destruction's wield is the claim of the unclean. A consecrated light glares and anathematic ash drifts throughout the region - including across that curious threshold of Summer and Winter, the river betwixt the now truly radiant fields of Samil'shann and the frozen wastes so-dubbed as the Citadel of Ash.

To do so for days to come, and even as those inaugural flames of the exalted solstice settle will the lands of Samil'shann be ever changed. Of all rendered to ash, an image of growth cast in living embers remains painted over the fields rooted firmly against the unyielding billow of restless gales. A heat inevitable and only reconcilable by thorough magical warding or sanction by the very providence of the season, suffuses the ground, the air, and steaming rains all. The saniskriti lie dormant, yet only because their flame had been spent to reshape all around them into no less fitting the name of Summertide.

The result is something the common Man would be hard-pressed to linger long within, and the common Demon actively rebuked by the holy spark in the surrounding elements to stand upon. Not a conquest for resettlement, but an offering given and violent celebration drawn to the cycle's brightest and hottest motions of Summer. A land made its own keeper, its own beacon against the corrupt, and so long as that radiance shines over long days and short nights will not be sullied again.

A large, spherical object glittering in runic starlight is seen hovering above the Final Frontier briefly, a second moon in the night, then it disappears with an ominous energy lingering. As the eastern front's strength wanes following the destruction of the Citadel and overgrowth of Prospera, a massive army soon moves towards the desert from the north; the second phase of the Abyssal Dragon's Grand Plan begins. These legions are composed mostly of Night Creatures rather than true Demons, and are led by a familiar face, the Sage of Tomorrow, Ilysander.

 The Embattlement of Londo!

The build-up!

Provided the time to prepare for the incoming demonic forde due to the valiant efforts of the masses in direct defiance of the demonic conquerors, Londo does not waste a moment to entrench, and fortify its position to grind the demonic horde’s seemingly endless forces to a Pyrrhic victory, or a devastating loss. During this period members of the Coalition such as the Shigenobu, and the Magical Beasts of Meranthe focus on increasing the manpower and longevity of their own forces as those of Londo. Walls are constructed, mightier and sturdier than before, and old ones were reconstituted into something greater. Defensive fortifications were made within the terrain surrounding Londo, and inside the city itself.

Trenches were dug, long and wide to entrench their positions or make it harder for their enemy to maintain any stretch of land without being forced to go over a trench. To support this, out of pure happenstance supplies instructed to create minds wound up being used for Ballistas, ensuring friendly artillery always has an explosive supply for it’s second frontline.




Strategy!

In tandem with this orders were dispatched throughout the Non-Magi forces, urging them to remember the three front lines. Effectively, demonic forces would have to march through open fields, before fighting through a trenches, only to finally march upon Londo itself, to which the city had laid out traps laced with magibane specifically for their invaders. The frontline served a tactical purpose, ballistas were put to great use in that position. The second frontline existed to slow down any potential advance into Londo itself, it tried to force the enemy into settling for small tactical gains, and it was for that purpose preparations were made to ensure the most survivability for their forces. Be that in defensive fortifications, easy access to rations, or even a doctor for a quick treatment nearby the battlefield in the magical beast clinic.

The final frontline, within Londo proper, was nothing short of a Fortress. In fact, the sheer amount of resources exhausted to ensure the city would withstand a demonic invasion was nothing to laugh about. The people of Londo and their allies spared no expense in ensuring they had the best chance of survival they could provide for themselves. This particular defensive strategy was named “Furukawa” meaning ‘former stream.’


In conclusion!
During this process, many bonds were formed, and others were lost. One thing that is certain, is that Londo and her people stand united against those who once again seek to take her from them.

A portable dart/syringue gun, the design is made to be simple, yet rugged and efficient, utilising the wielder´s mana supplies to fire off darts with a highly specialised form of air magic. Intended for combat medics, the weapon is meant to allow such personnel to assist the frontlines without needing to put themselves at risk, though the inherent simplicity of the weapon does invite the option of adapting the design to a purely offensive weapon, too.

The structure of the weapon is, though lightweight, very rigid, and capable of whithstanding even ver harsh conditrions, given proper maintenance. Still certainl not sturdy enough to be used in meele without breaking, however.
While the initial examples were made by a singular craftsman, the weapon is simple enough to be produced by an half-decent blacksmith, provided he is able to find someone to engrave runes upon those components that require it. Pittwald improved and made in mass these guns, allowing the magis not need refine mana for a proper shoot with his rune proficience.

As part of a ritual done in the Traverse, involving the sacrifice of 100 of each elemental crystal, 500 luminite, 10 eternite, the Tarot of Memoria, and the life of Elizabeth Montelione, 69 faith was sacrificed in excess of the ritual's minimum intent (for a total of 119 faith).

The year of 2139AC was struck an attack upon Midpoint, a sweeping strike that swiftly destroyed it. Words come upon the Frontier of this attack, as reports of attacks upon nearby villages reach the city.
During one of his visits, Svengalf would take hear of such news. Specifically about the concerning information, confirming his fear, about the Sage of Tomorrow raising new Night Creatures from the Fallen. And taking some days to assess the Frontier's situation, the Coordinator Svengalf finally takes word as he gathers the people of the Final Frontier within the Carnation District.

With the small crowd that was gathered, the exact words weren't reliable. But street discussions would mention how the speech started with a presentation of his story and involvement within the Frontier.
Next, was his announcement to step down from the Frontier as the coordinator, to the surprise of many, explaining then why.
Then, he gave the suggestion for his people to leave the Frontier and seek Arcadia for their safety. To leave their homeland was a difficult choice to take, even. But he explained on what would be the future of the Frontier and Arcadia, both having a drastic different fate. Encouraging the people to remember what made the brightness of the Final Frontier in the past when Solais was still standing.
And then, a short sermon to criticize and condemn the actions that have lead to this situation, bringing a warning.

While of course his speech couldn't reach everyone's hearts, his interest was to offer salvation to the remaining "pure" souls faithfull and loyal to him. Specially, to prevent those who are unable to defend themselves to fall ill-fated to the Sage of Tomorrow should the Frontier ever fall. This mostly includes the remaining people of the Carnation District, and some of the older generations living in the Frontier that would follow him. The rest would still stick to support the defense from the inside and following the current direction.

And through the next hours, a convoy was made within the streets of the city, as the people gathered their belongings pulled by carts. As last farewells were made, the Carnation District is left deserted. Already the Church was empty, as its gardens have disappeared.
But instead of leaving the Frontier by the desert, they took the underground passage through the railroad, supposedly the safest road to take with the demon horde surrounding the city. It would take some hours for them to go through, while voluntering people able to fight would clear the way of the residing Flapwings, Groloms, Stinnoxes. But the most difficult step was to traverse the ruins of Nythjem, were some risual nests of imps were still festering. With the help of some magi assisting and Svengalf leading the way, they would fend and repel away the pests, with unfortunately still some injured along the way.

But eventually, the convoy manages to reach Arcadia through the cave exit right next to the village. The Arcadians could witness hundreds of migrants, perhaps a little few thousands to gather nearby. It was hard to figure their numbers exactly. While some would make some incampments nearby, hoping on the charity of the Arcadians to welcome them, the rest would meet their past neighbours who have moved here years ago to help raising the defenses. And some would be able to witness in awe the sappling of Solais, a miniature version of its past self.

It was perhaps an occasion for new beginnings for these people to live once more into a place that could attune with their hearts


After many years that has lead to this and long meditations, Svengalf Sandsker takes his leave from the Frontier as a Coordinator. With him, he attempts to encourage the people (specially those who are not able to battle) who remain loyal and faithfull to him, along with those who share his views, to also take leave and move to Arcadia to find a shelter and better living conditions, as Faith and Hope strives in this location.
He wouldn't force anyone who would prefer to stay there, opting for a peacefull resolution to place the people into a safer location.

2139AC - Goldlight Order
With a return to the Vigil, for the half-decimated Brigade sent to aid Gloomlight Grove, an increase in The Order´s efforts in preparation for the Atrellyan forces becomes visible, to the point where it can no longer be obfuscated behind half-enforced secrecy, and carefully maintained internal documentation.


As a fortress that has stood for forty two years prepares for the most lethal of tests against its fortification.

A TRADITION OF SERVICE,
With the Wards and Orphans of the Tribunal.

The Goldlight Order has officially existed for Sixty Five years, since its original transition from a mercenary outfit to a pseudo-knightly Order, and with it, the majority of its years of service was alongside or beneath the Holy State of Aphros, as an Auxiliary Military.

From the start of the Indefinite Crusade against Skarnfel and its forces, to the founding of the Republic.
And for forty two of those years, the Stronghold of Martyrs´ Vigil has existed, granting a proper home to The Order and its practices, as well as infrastructure for such.

Enough time for a cultural tradition of service to form, where service in The Order and its Wings is an honoured practice amongst veteran families - or something to fear and discourage, from those that remember the years of the Crusades.

Yet even beyond the Militant Wing and its volunteers, it is not simply familial influence that prepares the youthful volunteers of The Vigil for a potential life of duty and service, for the Faith Wing of the Tribunal in turn is responsible for guiding and moulding, as a social and educational arm of The Order.


Orphans turned into Wards of The Order and its Tribunal, or simply local children - be it within the Vigil itself or lesser villages and hamlets within its domain - that are then provided education by the clergy of the Faith Wing, both academic and social subjects.
A familiarisation with the philosophy and creed of the Goldlight Order is ingrained, even if just by proximity or by the classes that bring it up, and a light is pointed at its Military by passive participation or interaction with its members, where even if service in the Militant Wing is not something of interest, the Clergy may be an alternative that catches the eye of someone.


Both serve in combat in their own way, as part of The Order´s militant outfit nature, where one wing is at the front, and the other supports its efficiency, equal flexibility, in War and in Peace.

A decimated brigade returns, nearly broken after a singular engagement, yet where one falls in the name of home, three more are ready to take their place.

With entire families, homes and livelihoods on the line in the face of the Atrellyan invasion, there was no shortage of volunteers for the Vigil and its Guard from within the domains of The Order. And even without them, the wards under the care of The Order´s Faith Wing are a steady source of dutiful or patriotic members for any number of of occupations to contribute to the war effort.

Academic pursuit and militant instruction alike, molding those under the care of the Tribunal for whatever field they find themselves drawn to.

And a Hunter´s Touch.

The least fortified side of the City lay to its north, where no foe was projected to strike from for all of its years, until now. And with this new variable?

Adaptation was required.

The construction of a wall and other physical deterrents was mandated and required. A line of Adamantite, Nyeshk and Tyrium, further bulked up with stone, as a physical bump against the oncoming Atrellyan forces, and inlayed with Austereia, to bind a stationary Barrier to the wall itself, with the aid of several Arcane Magi and a few prominent Magi from Gloomlight.

And even with its completion, traps are already laid upon the field, specifically prepared to wear down the Atrellyan Horde, by an expert in the field of hunting their demons.
A Hunter.

The wall itself may only be a physical deterrent, yet in time it may be more.

But for the time being, it would hopefully suffice, as the work effort is now fully visible.

Outnumbered and outpowered, it is only logical to reach out to potential “allies” against a common enemy, and such was the logic of sending a diplomatic detachment to the one place that the Knight-Commander once left, half a century ago.

The same front that the Atrellyans had been attacking, prior to the invasion force sent to Meranthe, yet few acts were done out of goodwill alone, and to convince the Great Kingdom, or at least individual members of its nobility and church, to send any sort of expeditionary force?
It would need quite the convincing “donation”, and the right favours to be called in.

Eternite - the very same metal that a whole expedition was sent to the Peninsula to ship back home, decades ago - and the potential relic of one of the Twelve Saints, or at least something made by his hands.
As well as a degree of familiarity with two noble houses of the Homeland - Keene and Avincus - through members of their bloodlines having served in The Order over the years, especially with the latter of the two.

The dreaded answer that it would not be enough was ever constant.
Until the Order´s vessels returned from their westward trip to the Bay of Tears, yet not alone.

A small contingent of Aenite Soldiers and their veteran officer - perhaps in service to one of the noble houses or directly from the Theocracy´s Defensive Army yet certainly with a hatred for the Atrellyan armies - settle into position along the walls, while weaponry and armor, blessed by the Church of the Twelve Saints, is loaned to the Logistics Division to outfit The Order´s own. Something that will likely be collected, when this foreign detachment returns home.
