A Grim Invitation

A loud crack could be heard above the skies of Audhild one late night. For all that turned their gaze upward to find the source of it, they would see it- a rift, torn open directly above the city. As the citizens whispered in shock and fear, something could be seen streaking through the sky, a loud crash being heard before it was sealed up entirely.

As the local guard went to investigate, they're quick to discover that a small cottage on the outside of Audhild was completely destroyed. Dead in the center of the wreckage was a horrifying sight, something that brought unease to the stomachs of all the onlookers.

The head of Councilman Benjamin Thomson, impaled on a spear made entirely out of hardened flesh.

Attached to the end of the fleshspear's 'shaft', if you could even call such a horrific thing that, was a note, written in blood with all capital letters:

Quote:"STAY TUNED FOR THE AFTER PARTY!"

A blood-chilling omen, of what was to come.

Another night comes and goes.
War is upon the horizon, yet it has not swept over Audhild just yet.

The sense of foreboding is tangible on this morning, the last vestiges of a passing night reluctantly leaving. Yet when rays of sun shine down upon Audhild, they do so not in magnificence, but instead a grim and cruel reminder of how fleeting life can be.

The head of Tensho is found upon the border of Audhild, impaled on a spear. This one, upon a shaft of wood and head of rusted iron.

Similarly to the first, a bloody note is found tied to the shaft,
Quote:"Just a reminder while you wretched fools plot! I hope you are as excited as we are!"

"The stage is set!"

Another close friend and citizen lost.

Audhild remains silent, plotting and planning for the battle to come.

The head of Mero Dominic had now travelled each corner of Meranthe. Carried by a shaken boy.

The White Wolf's death was well-known.

A series of ravens are sent from the quiet town, one for Sheol, one for Skarnfel, one for the Golden Keep. With only a single message upon parchment paper.

The Blood of the slain Mortyl Champion.
