State of Meranthe

Year 2041 AC
Quote:"Let it be known, from here on we shall forge our own path. To decide our own destiny within this world, to create our own paradise within the miasma of the Shadowlands."

"These were the words which I, Balrith the First Plague Lord spoke to the world. Words, which I have delivered on. Creating a home for us here, by the name of Ebonhold. A home for all those searching for purpose, searching for a place where they are no longer tools, used for the benefit of those due to their birth. This is my vision."

"Still, achieving this is not due to only my efforts. Many of you, have taken it upon yourself to aid this cause; something which I along with many others are grateful for.  Let the miasma continue to protect us."

After investing a great deal of time, effort and resources; those of the Ordo Plaga had finally managed to attain themselves not only a home for them to occupy, but built an infrastructure of markets and buildings of interest which in turn lead to them developing a budding settlement. Still in it's early stages of growth, but it was clear to see the progress from what was once just a murky swampland.

Still, there was much work to be done for the settlement to compare to the other larger settlements. So with this in mind those of the miasma are open to establishing diplomatic communications with all of the other settlements. Seeking to gain a further understanding of how they are being received by their neighbouring settlements. Along with potential diplomatic talks.

  • The Miasma which was present within the Shadowlands, is noticeably thicker than it once was. The sign of true pestilence, something that those whom lived within Ebonhold believed was a sign of increased protection from their efforts. Still, it did not encroach upon those neighbouring. Simply occupying their own lands.

  • It would also come out that the rumours of a Warlock aiding those of Ebonhold came out into public knowledge; with the figure being none other than the Drakanite known simply as Pity. Furthermore, his involvement in such has leaked into the common rumours, with the latest revealing that he has been Re-educating those of Ebonhold in order to be better prepared for the fights that may come their way. Not to mention advising The Plague Lord himself; Balrith.

  • With the advancement of the settlement, it was finally time for the Ordo Plaga to fill out it's ranks somewhat. Seeing this as a perfect opportunity, Balrith took it upon himself to promote the kin who had proven themselves most valuable to the rank of Harbringers of the Plague; With those being Interitus, Jerekko and Shaanx.

  • Efforts have been started to erect a church within the miasma, dubbed The Church of the Plague. However construction is still underway and not yet completed. A slow process, as such things always were.

  • The resident Warlock Pity has been reaching out to all of those yet to receive their re-education; speaking of it with the utmost importance. Something that is seconded by The Plague Lord.

  • It becomes common knowledge within the settlement that there will be several investigations into potential ways of furthering the miasma that enshrouds Ebonhold. Something that seemingly appears a priority for The Plague Lord.

It is known throughout Meranthe that the settlement of Ebonhold is actively seeking diplomatic talks, and alliances due to it's new budding status. Despite how truly unlikely this was, those within the location still held out hope for such a thing.
With this in mind, it is openly-known that they are completely Neutral with all settlements, until talks or further interaction leads to anything other than this.
Anyone wishing to enter talks are to contact Pity by letter and a date will be arranged where all parties will be present for talks.

Infrequent earthquakes continue to rock Grimhjall. Tremors from the volcano.

With infighting having ceased and the old ways cleansed in fire, Vdalion pushes outwards. Their presence in international diplomacy becomes more pronounced. Peace finalized and while relations are shaky with Aen, the council was attended. The mountain cities help against Abendrot clear.

Word by now has spread that a warlock is being cleansed by Hela Vorraog. The Plague Lord Balrith has been felled by Emperor's hand. Warriors are armed and prepared as continual clashes happen below mountain with the likes of Xarxes, Wra'gul and those of Ebonhold.

Barry Garrick, the human scout of the dwarves succeeds in his diplomatic mission. Thrim Underforged and Barry act as the pioneers of Mount Glufdor's new settlement. They fly under Vdalion's banner and protection. While expansion is slow, the dwarves of Galnur's work can be heard on eerie nights, the clanging of steel within Cavern of Immolation.

  • The Herald of Ymir rests after saving the Tower of Aeticus and surrounding areas from complete destruction, though, Abendrot remains in ruins.

  • Citizens of Vdalion are to find Thalia Astaseul for alchemical needs, ranging from attunements to booster potions.

  • Peace with Aphros and Delphina becomes official.

  • The Huskarl will follow revamp soon, to better fit the new age of Vdalion and its people.

  • Restoration of Mount Pavonis a future goal of Ymir's faithful.

  • Aen - ???.
  • Abendrot Ebonhold - War.
  • Nilhirra/Port Fortune - ???.
  • Aphros - Peace.
  • Delphina - Peace.
  • Final Frontier/Gutter/Dwarves of Galnur - Allied.

An announcement, one public, is made during the Coronation of Delphina's newest Royals.
Quote:
"Years ago,
I was beset to revitalize our home. Within the recent decade alone, we've gone from fractured city-state to reuniting the Kingdom of Delphina as a whole; cleansing the sins of our past, and preparing for a new dawn.
Our home has been thriving,
Demonkind is on the defensive, after desperately attempting to ransack our city; but failed altogether.
Delphina continues to stand strong,
And I'll do everything in my power to see that continue.
One day, I expect to look and to see this Kingdom as a jewel - the envy of the world.
A dream I've inherited, and shall strive to fulfill."

ʚїɞ With the abdication of Queen Aurona Caewynn, Tarathiel Caewynn was given the Crown Of The True Dynasty, and thus title of King of Delphina. With that, bore the responsibility of deciding whether to keep or discard the diarchy. Decisions were reached, and prominent Cloudstrider Nefeli Caewynn was chosen to rule equally due to her diplomatic efforts with the Empire of Vdalion, securing communication and peace betwixt the long-warring nations.

ʚїɞ Entering into a golden age, as of 2041AC; Peace has been brokered between Meranthe's oldest power. Delphina, Aphros and Vdalion together and united to quash the demonic remnants that plague the countryside.

ʚїɞ All noble representatives of each Delphian noble house are required to speak to either King Tarathiel or Queen Nefeli regarding their status of nobility and why they deserve to retain their status. In the new goldening era of Delphina, nobility will be reformed. Those who have acted on behalf of Delphina in grand gesture and those who are staples of the community will be recognized and those who have remained idle will lose their privileged status within the realm. They have until 2043AC

ʚїɞ Organization of a committee is underway to cooperate with Vdalion in order to undo the vile damage done to Mount Pavonis along with the sacred forests of Nemea, healing those  lands is of the highest priority.

ʚїɞ Rowan Fernglen has been granted authority to established a guild. Dubbed the Dawn's hunt, they aim to cleanse darkness from Meranthe beneath Nemea's name and tenants. Entry is not exclusive to Delphina, nor are an state-entity.

ʚїɞ For years of valiant service beneath the reformed Elzara, Seth Valmonte has been promoted to the rank of  Commander.

ʚїɞ With a new age, comes a need for housing. Thus, those who haven't been seen in an extensive amount of time, along with non-citizens shall be receiving eviction notices in an attempt to solve the lacking accommodations for Delphina's citizenry.

Lyonesse, the presence of Aen's greater values and morals off Meranthe's coasts, has gradually, quietly, undergone changes and transitions of roles since the last correspondence.
A succinct message from the latest Captain, Dr. Isaac Coswell, goes as follows.

"In my time since I was a boy in Meranthe, I have received nothing but proof that humanity transcends what blessing is cast over you. What color you bleed, or what parts of your body are missing. When I was a barely a teen, Vice Admiral Von Marsh made a choice that perhaps was the only choice to save my life. But my heart has forever been changed. It is a machine that continues the flow of my blood and yet through tribulations I could not feel any more human than I do now. In Aen, in my home, Port Tanis, I would be a pariah to many for something I had no control over. Well, now I have the means to ensure that will never happen here, in Lyonesse. In our home. I invite those of you back in my birthplace who might hear this to migrate, bring your talents and skills, your hope, regardless of origin. To those who have dispersed, or feared to set foot on Lyonesse for these reasons, I hope my message cannot be more clear.

We are all sapient. All mortal. It is our actions that define us, regardless of what our body is made of.
"

♆ Due revelations of common sense and time in Meranthe, Captain Coswell has denounced any remnants of prejudice based on birth heritage or prosthesis not including demonic or otherwise monstrous origins such as creatures of the Shadowlands.

♆ Having risen to Captain following the retirement of Isolde, Isaac has promoted Isley, Auryn, and Altear to Lieutenant, as well as Allan to Sailor.

♆ A desire to continue to establish good relations with the denizens of Meranthe is upheld, the ideal of a council included. Follow-up with the nations is in preparation, with rumors of coming trade deals.

♆ A memorial to eternalize all who have fallen in the struggle against the hellish and necromantic is in construction. If heirlooms or belongings of the deceased are found, a request of their return is publicized.

"Walking with a friend in the dark
is better than walking alone in the light." - ???

The revolution was on its way. What was once a rot and pestilence miasma plaguing the areas has now been gutted and cleansed of such an inconvenient parasite. A dark mist had formed, and green ghoulish figures gathered in the darkness. Wra'gul, a new monarch rising, one decorated with bones and blood.

A shift in power within the demon society was inevitable, but whispers have spread throughout the shadowlands that something much bigger and more sinister is in the works.

As the seasons change on Meranthe, a new epoch starts. One in complete gloom, far removed from the golden age. Despite the reality that little has changed and will not change, the monarchy is held with pure blood.

Though little can be heard for the time being, some say that if you get close to the new fortress, you can hear hammers pounding and -see- skeletons racing in and out, orders being yelled. Demons can be heard laboring, preparing, and developing.

A new era has begun.

Quote:"I call you, to kneel before me and serve for The Deep Hold, to those who have swum in despair's oceans, to those who have been cast out of their homes, to those who have been chastised and deemed worthless by these fake prophets."

-Wra'gul 'Necromancer of The Deep'

  • Wra'gul has been crowned Monarch and given the moniker The Necromancer of The Deep.
  • The Great VarrachThe Imperfect, takes up arms, organizing the divisions and assuring that their Army is in top condition.

  • Sak'noth has been established, Lord of Change, the brain behind their activities, and the Head of Research and Development. Anyone looking to better the territories or their 'research' should talk with Sak'noth..

  • Xarxes has been appointed Lord of Time, in charge of exploring the regions and collecting vital information to guarantee their success. Everyone is urged to tell Xarxes anything valuable or important.

Many rumors permeate throughout this time. Whispered words that the hero cult of Grimnir returns, talks that the Herald of Ymir discovered great secrets through meditation and grew dozens of feet. The Zealots of Ymir's return the quietest they have ever been. Many more clashes with demon kind punctuate the lands surrounding Vdalion.

The Empress of Vdalion dies. Some say Jokul entered a fit of fire-psychosis rage and slayed her. Others say she sacrificed herself to be the first example of the occult being outlawed throughout the mountains. The public word is that it was neither, instead a selfless sacrifice, done out of necessity so Vdalion could receive Ymir's blessing. Whatever the case is, only two people know the truth, the Emperor and Hofgothi, both of whom remain tight-lipped about it. The details are murky at best, especially with suspicions a special something handed over to Sak'noth..

The Herald of Ymir is killed. The darkest news of all. It is done on the night of celebration and feast. An honor duel had with the Emperor but the air within Grimhjall is thick. It's difficult to swallow. Some shake with rage, calling the Emperor "BETRAYER", others like the Jarl Orphee, claim a new era for the mountain comes. Whatever the case may be, Vdalion appears on the edge of self-destruction. The volcanoes constant mini-eruptions said to be a warning.

From public rumors and recent actions, the following can be theorized:

It is wise to not put too much stock into these rumors, given the erratic behavior of Vdalion's leader.
  • Aen - Neutral.
  • Abendrot Ebonhold The Deep Hold - War.
  • Nilhirra/Port Fortune - Neutral.
  • Aphros - Peace.
  • Delphina - Peace.
  • Final Frontier/Gutter/Dwarves of Galnur - Allied.

Quote:"I think I've served long enough. Let the new generation guide and protect Aphros."

"I am so proud of how far Aphros has come, and how strong the people are. My love is never ending... but even I need to rest."

-Noctis Equisol

CHANGING OF THE GUARD:
Noctis Equisol has selected two people to replace Oracle within Aphros. The will of Athelios has always been of balance, and thus two Oracles shall there be.

In two years' time, in 2048 the people will vote and see if the new system in place shall be kept, or if the old ways remain.

For in the city of duality, one man or woman cannot be the perfect balance of Astra and Umbra.

May the two pass their trials, and may Athelios judge them true.

(Names have been left out for the Oracle Curse is real.)

  • Noctis Equisol once more has taken a step back, however, there will be a new trial in Aphros. Selected are the two people who shall lead the nation, both their choices and their actions will reflect as a whole. The people of Aphros will ensure their voice is heard, and the ways of old may remain. Or may the people see to the future, in the twilight city.

  • With the attack of Salvation against Aphros, their leader Mikhail was taken captive, however. He has not returned. Noctis Equisol has come forth and claimed that he has been laid to rest. The Champion of Meranthe was given his last rights, upon his request, upon his death. Aphros shall never forget him. For there was no hate for their actions. May Nemea and Athelios bless his soul.

  • Rumors have it that Aphros and Vdalion are working together on a project, as for what only the winds can say.

  • With the recent arrival of Goblins, Batkin, and even Dwarves. Relations are freely open with Aphros and its people, none have made moves nor actions against the people and remain neutral unless given otherwise.

  • While many nations have outlawed Occult, Aphros remains the Bastion of duality. It is allowed, however. Those who are untrained and unwilling to learn the proper ways are forbidden within its walls. Black Magic of any kind remains prohibited and punishable by death.

  • As the Crown of Athelios has yet to be returned, Lydia is still wanted. Dead or Alive. Her crimes have stripped her of her last name and have been removed from Aphrosian records. There is little concern over the loss of the crown as well, it has been made clear that it is no longer the Relic it once was. Ruined by the darkened magics, Rumor has it. There are new plans to gather a New Crown.

  • Recent Events have caused Aen to tread on hot coals with Aphros. It is highly encouraged that they reach out to the new leadership as soon as possible, if not, then they may reap what they sow.

  • People are free to contact Noctis Equisol by any means, however, his response may be late or delayed in the next few years.

Quote:Still not pirates!

In the advent of Fritz Fortuna's untimely demise, the outpost of Nilhirra deafened to a whisper, and word of piracy spread thin. In the years since, the seat of its late founder found itself arrogated by her first mate. A famously inane cambion who refuses to identify by any other name than King of the World, claiming to be--among many things--an immortal. Nearly a decade in the aftermath, the islands of Port Fortune and Nilhirra have agreed to consolidate as one, and unify as a nautical commonwealth. To usher in a new nation founded on the principles of freedom and liberty, christened the Petty Kingdom of Fortune.
This loose amalgam of pirates privateers, brigands, outlaws, outcasts, and merchants, is to be headed by a trifecta. A council consisting of the cambion King as its de facto sovereign, Stede Vane as its Captain-of-Arms, responsible for the oversight of all military ventures, and Fabbondel appointed as its Chamberlain to preside over all matters of statecraft and diplomacy. The Nilhirra Grand company will continue to serve as Fortune's main body of operations under the firm leadership of Misperis.
The Isle of Icaria, renowned for its fertility in markers like Azilaena, became a lucrative attraction for the disaffected peoples of Meranthe to settle. Chief among them, cambions desiring to eke out a living free of prejudice or the tyranny of demons. Humans of all stripes and walks of life are accepted on its shores--be they beastkin, cambion, sirenian, or faeborn--to exercise whatever faith they please. Numbers have burgeoned from the rubble and ash of old Pantheon, with reconstruction efforts for the incipient thalassocracy said mostly to be at the shrewd guidance of its Chamberlain.

While the rule of law remains mostly absent in the lands of Fortune, four simple edicts are asked of its constituents: no Trouble (with those those Fortune), no Demons, no Undead, and no Black Magicks. Despite this, there is a large laxity in their enforcement, and the islands continue to serve as a staging point for the less scrupulous actors of Meranthe. Furthermore, the practice of slavery is expressly forbidden.

The islands collectively boast an approximate population of 500-600, with the lion's share residing on Port Fortune, while the majority of refugee cambions and outcasts make a life on Nilhirra.

Roman, under the direction of Stede Vane, has been granted tentative vassalage of Mina Solis to undertake settlement efforts on the island. The cambion captain has expressed intentions of naming the newfound colony Nasou.

⎈ Hushed rumors emerge that talks with the goblin clan Óir and its chieftain may bring about a new wave of migration within the cliffsides of Nilhirra.

Quote:"We now stand alone. But stand we must." - King Roman of Nasou

Ships begin to dock upon the port of Mina Solis. People gather. Those who had been apart of his crew. Others simple looking for refuge. Or those who did not belong on the continent with the rest of society. A meeting is being held. To decide the fate of Nasou. With them now being cut off from the Kingdom of Fortune. The Vassal State has decided to make its own path. Its own future. With or without the help of the outside world. The banner of the Jolly Rodgers fly no more on their ships. But the flag of the Crimson Red Twelve Pointed Star. Accompanied by a regal purple background. Now is the time for a new Era on Mina Solis. And a new direction for the crew.

Mina Solis has changed hands multiple times in its history. Belonging to many. Yet none seem to have ever truly held it. Would that change with the advent of the birth of a new Kingdom? Or would it simple be a call to arm's in vain. For Mina Solis holds much value as an Island. Containing the one and only isolated dungeon on the continent of the Sewers. Rich in its value alone. A large Island that could fit a small city upon it. A location were one could easily travel from the mainland's back and forth. Now it began to bustle. Convicts, Brigands, Pirates, Ex Soliders, Orphans, and all those who are cast away from Society. Forgotten or Forsaken.

King Roman of Nasou now reigns as its current sovereign. Leading the new and young Nation forwards to complete it's goals. But as for what those goal's could be? Who could truly know. For many rumors fly about what those living there truly want or seek to achieve. Yet they themselves know well.

Commander Felicity Jones is to be placed in charge of the Order of the Serpent. The Newly formed Knightly Order upon the Island. Tasked with the defense of the Island and land offensive based operations.

Admiral Niclous Runeclaw is to be placed in charge of the Fleet of the Flying Devil. Tasked with the defense of the coastal waters of Nasou, as well as sea based offensive operations.

Quote:"Aigh't so things ain't gon' be easy but if we're to survive we gots to give 'em hel, right?" - Commander Felicity Jones, Order of the Serpent

The Kingdom of Nasou has few laws consecrated as of that moment. But the past three golden rules remain. One shall not harm or steal from fellow Citizens of the Kingdom. One shall not commit acts of Necromancy. And one shall not work with or collaborate with Deephold.

With the ongoing relations of the lands. It is stated the Kingdom has no wish for expansion. But those who attack shall be dealt with. It is also noted in recent events of the Goblins continued attacks and acts of Banditry. As well as with the threats of an attack from Hrinmir's band of brigands. That those of the names Crackhead, Grubfoot, Hrinmir, and Priam are to be arrested. As well as aggressive peacekeeping actions shall be taken against the Goblin's till the banditry ceases.

It is unknown how the Kingdom of Fortune shall react. Though it seems Nasou expects them to react negatively. And so the Kingdom is seen working towards constructing more ships for their fleets. More firearms for their soldiers. Spears for their Militia. Cannons for their ships.

✹ It is stated. All foreign Nations are allowed to come to the Island unhindered. Those Exceptions being the Brigands of Hrinmir. The Goblins who participate in banditry. Those of Deephold. And those who seek hostile intentions against the new Kingdom.

✹ Military forces have been formed onto the Island. With more positions slowly opening up as the Kingdom gets its bearings. Settling in fully. For they are not going anywhere.

➥ A cave in, no doubt caused by the ascension of either of the imperfects of Meranthe, has drawn the Óir clan from their isolative cavern shafts. Making use of what they are given, even in the confusion of losing several loved ones and adjusting to the aboveground world's standards and ethics, they establish a new settlement unto itself, Undervein, as small as the compact residents she fosters.
Snap Óir-Gaire has taken the role of her clan's chieftain, in her father's name. Her ethos remains what it has always been: believing that there is nothing more important than family, be they blood or bond. An individual cord is weak, but together they are strong, the motto of her people's clan.
Kazing Óir-Naofa has taken the role of his clan's shaman, practicing divine acts in the name of their patron deity, Btyanng. To dwell within the earth, in the dark and the cold, Btyanng is a guiding light to goblins that have lost their way, steering them away from disaster.
Zonk Óir-Gnagkurd and Fizzle Óir-Tine set the example for the clan's creatives division, accelerating the progress of mechanical technology, unorthodox alchemy, and the blending the two to create unique designs that could only truly exist outside of traditionalist thought.
Banditry, while at an all time high, has become reserved only for those that have wronged the
Óir clan or its allies to begin with. This is law of Undervein, expected to be enforced strictly, as the perpetrators toe a thin line between what must be done, and what is solely for enjoyment.
➥ The Kingdom of Nasou has treated the goblins as weapons even before they had even founded their home on borrowed land. The attempt toward radicalization without option is not welcomed, and will be treated as the second-highest threat to safety...
➥ ...short of those of Deep Hold, who have issued an ultimatum that the goblins repay their debts in two years, lest they face extermination.

Snap firmly reminds her clan not to rob or harm any tolerated, neutral, or allied party unless they initiate hostilities.
