House Kallis - Relations, Information, Crime Management [Aphros]

Below you will find a brief general overview in regards to house function & employment options.

House Kallis tends to attract those of Umbra political and philosophical persuasions, but those of Astra beliefs are welcome as well due to the import of self policing.

Relations: House Kallis is renowned as Aphros' primary diplomat family. They are recognized for enhancing their own relations and connections within Aphros and without, as well as being famed for their frequent upper class gatherings, most notably their masquerade balls. House Kallis is often called upon to handle foreign negotiations.

Information: As known strategists, House Kallis uses its relations to form wide spanning information networks. The House will often seek out secrets, and are often the largest players within information trade. House Kallis is also tasked with keeping track of Faceless movements and identities, Faceless are expected to report when they form a new disguise or identity and update House Kallis in regards to their movements. In turn, the house often offers the Faceless promising leads and missions.

Crime Management: With its wide information network, crime and undesirable or taboo activity is often caught ahead of time by House Kallis. Kallis is known to conduct investigations into these criminal affairs, a wide variety of times they will end in arrest, though Kallis also maintains the right to delay arrest for the sake of benefit. For example, should House Kallis discover a planned smuggling operation, rather than an immediate shut down House Kallis may offer its support to allow the smugglers to sneak in a larger shipment into Aphros. Once that is done, the arrest may be performed there with a larger shipment requisitioned. The smugglers involved may even be made to serve the same function under Kallis supervision, if their operation proved to have sufficient merit. Despite this, House Kallis still has strict regulation on the management and control of crime more detailed within the greater debrief.

House Kallis functions unlike most noble houses. The main Kallis bloodline is subject to change based on merit. The head of the house, and their blood related family all carry the Kallis name during their maintenance of the title, but the title of head passes on to the second in command regardless of blood relations. Once the title passes, the previous head keeps the Kallis name, but the new bloodline inherits it. Losing Kallis leadership does not dissuade all bloodlines, and so some persist and gain it again and again. Notably, the current reigning Frijia line under Darius Kallis.

One may carry multiple of the following roles.

Head: The forefront authority of Kallis affairs. The head has clearance to all knowledge acquired by house Kallis, and has the final say on all decision making. The head is expected to lead the direction of prime Kallis objectives, and their bloodline is granted the full weight of the noble title. The head is still expected to maintain Aphros interest at heart, and if the head is not the Oracle then they are expected to maintain communication as well.

Second-in-command: Though not a state that always requires formal recognition, the second in command is the person with access to the most knowledge in regards to Kallis affairs aside from the head. As such, the title of Second-In-Command can be acquired by being involved in the most projects rather than being directly chosen. It simply denotes the person with merit and sufficient activity to qualify as next head of House Kallis.

Intelligence: This role denotes those within House Kallis that take an avid participation in 'intrigues', they often function with diplomatic capacity, they are expected to provide intelligence for House Kallis and use it to the house's benefit and as such are often granted access to more and more information that is on a 'need to know' basis. Intelligence is the most likely to have an active overarching role in crime management. 

Resources: A role typically comprised of artificers, alchemists, merchants, and other specialists. They are the talent of House Kallis. Tasked with acquiring funds, arming operatives and the main house, as well as participating in grand house projects. Information and resources will be granted to Resource Operatives that show potential, their exploits funded and supported by the main house and access to rarer opportunities is provided as well. 

Enforcers: House Kallis security and police force. Enforcers are those with an aptitude for combat, be it discreet or otherwise. They often run security for more vulnerable members, but they are also tasked with infiltration and arrests. Depending on their aptitude for strategy, information granted to them will vary. Regardless, enforcers are as valued as the other two branches, and care is taken to make sure they are well armed and trained.
