Nerf Light. Its too strong.
#1
Nerf Light.
I just watched some barely 190 guy tear through 4 people with cosmic and light and do half their HP without any real effort. The light balls that home in from across the entire map for 2k a tick is stupid and light is getting more full range cross map abilities thats good on anyone, melee or mage.  Shadow doesnt have half that and is trash in comparisson to what light can do. This game just seems heavily unfair and the reason things are so boring is because no one wants to fight a team full of people using this kinda magic that are constantly forced to be good guys even though half of them go out murder-boning and trying to force people to fight them and you cant do anything but bend over for their stupid power trip rp.

This feels lame, do something please.

I see people talk about it all the time and we need to stop pretending like they arent right. Something is obviously wrong and people keep looking at these trees for that reason. Yeah other trees get a little troublesome and they get nerfed pretty quickly. But stuff like light? That lasts forever. I seen trees nerfed overnight for nothing, where only like two to four people are using it. I see like ten people abusing light with other super strong trees like cosmic and holy and it feels like nothing gets done.

This  is the real reason everyone is buddy buddy. Why moonfall is planning pool parties with knights. Why syndicate people are quitting left and right. Cause no one wants to fight super huge AoEs with super strong slows that deal super much damage, or who trades their slows for free damage reduction, or who can attack from an entire screen away with homing light that does 2k a tick 8 times, a free off-screen teleport that can be combined with any spell, and beams of light that tick an entire beam's worth of damage instantly and also move across the entire battle screen.

Make this game fair and give  people more options and watch how life comes back to it. Or you can tell me Im wrong and pretend like I dont know anything and enjoy eveyrone sitting afk and doing nothing for another 3 weeks while you make a new map for people to go wow for the first week or two then go back to afk because the balance still hasn't made proper changes.

Edit:

Its not even cool to RP against, whenever I see someone win with cosmic or holy or light I just kinda alt tab cause its like, what else were you expecting. And it usually takes them 9x less effort to win while the other person uses everything in the book three times over and the other person still has half their health.

Their homing should do LESS damage because its HOMING. Projectiles like blood, water, even fireball doesnt do half the damage of those abilities and they dont home AT ALL.

Wind is terrible.

Crystal, Plasma, Explosion, Lightning, none of these other trees compare and I see people talk about how the trees arent meant to be equal. Light and Shadow aint equal and Shadow is supposed to be the antithesis. This shit is just unfair and whoever is making it this unfair should feel ashamed of themselves because you are going to be playing alone because people dont want to sign up to be your punching bag. =/

/Rant 2

Edit 2:

Light spells put INTERMEDIATES TO SHAME and people have to do dangerouses out the ass for that. Light users just gotta RP with each other. Wtf?

Edit 3:

Get someone who knows balance not with the first order or on their side to actually take a look at light balance and see whats going on because this is nuts. I feel like no one who defends light actually fights light and knows what its like. They just play alongside light or with light and think "haha this is fine, Im winning because Im good..."

Light and Shadow are intermediate trees. 60

Also Wind is terrible.

Lastly...Can fireball, crimson darts, and other similar abilities get a damn step-cast?

My list of the strongest trees remains as it always has.

(In no particular order) Cosmic, Light, Holy, Occult, Nature.

------
That being said, I love Light thematically, and it looks like such a fun tree to RP/use. On a side-note, it is particularly strong because its predecessor trees are both ridiculously powerful in their own right, and compliment it/ are complimented by it very well.

Note: Keep in mind this is just my opinion after witnessing a number of fights in the dojo/the outcome of a number of fights in Esshar. These trees appear to be the most effective, but thorough testing would be recommended- because kneejerk reactions are commonplace in this game.

Light could used toned down a little bit, it's very powerful at the moment...

I'm sure Chance will take a look at the spells in light of recent events here.

Oh my god some of these skillshots have stepcasts, that makes them equal to light!

Excuse me while the next light user drops a full-screen distance homing attack that has better tracking and positioning than every other homing in game and ticks for 1.5-2k per shot and spawns 8+ shots to hit you. Every 20 seconds. Oh my god, if only it had step cast then it would be truly busted.

Oh my god if my instant GCDE 15 tile teleport had stepcast... Boy I'd be swole. Hoooh if only my full screen instant-tick beam came with a step cast.

And why doesnt shadow even remoteely compare to what light can do? I dont know how busted shadow is, but I know its nowhere comparable to light, and barely anyone uses it, and light is so busted that we cant see what else is busted because why go anything but light? Light just keeps winning, and people keep hiding, and then when they finally die they remake and joi nthe light wave. And everyone is buddy buddy so we need a new map.

This is just my opinion here, the spell most people have a problem with is Scattering Lights right..? Sure the damage is high but unless you stand in place they aren't all going to hit, and if you move and dash in a certain fashion barely any will ever touch you. Let alone dashing then pressing block. Or considering how many spells directly counter the ability...The spell has already been nerfed with the block change and the damage isn't honestly all that intense unless you stand there like a tree.

Next topic, Lightspeed. This spell is 20 rpp for a teleport with no damage. It's fine as is.

Light vs Shadow

I play one of the few Shadow users wandering Osrona and I can honestly say they are on par with one another easily, there isn't a Light user I've fought I haven't beaten so far even if it is a back and forth win/lose situation. Shadow and Light are on very much the same strength level.

(I can't say much about the beam, I've not really experienced it.)

Though also please consider that Light/Shadow are intermediate trees of intermediate trees and every spell in Shadow for example is an intermediate ability in and of itself, though I've not seen a Light tome I would think it is done the same.

At worst take a bit of the damage from Scattering Lights, but it really doesn't need much of a nerf or in my opinion there isn't much of a point of buying the spell given how avoidable it is with just the spacebar and block button.

Ive not seen anyone dash in a way where the light orbs missed, and they spawn around you so thats tough.
And no spell I've seen couunters it except immunity spells which hnot everyoen has. You are basically saying that by some random lucky chance and full knowledge of the skill from fighting it in the dojo every day you can take 0-15% damage instead of taking half your fucking health bar. Nerf it. And the light teleport doing no damage? that doesnt even matter. If I could zip to someone every ten seconds for free with GCDE to IMMEDIATELY LAND MY ENTIRE COMBO it MATTERS.

Damage =/= RPP.
Just cause it does no damage doesnt mean shit! Its a free lineup for my entire spellbar combo everytime Im off CD, dont come here lying like that.

And shadow is not on par with that. If it were you would see more shadow users. I guarantee you. Especially among enemies of the First Light. Your point blank shadow claw that does what, 2k to 4k one time and your shadow walk which is fast movement and no damage does not compare to a instant free teleport that lets you drop all your abilities for perfect execution, the claw does not compare to scattering lights and the homing 2k a tick damage 8+ times, and oh wait, shadow doesnt even have a spell to match the beam

*Ahem* As the actual Shadow user here, I have to disagree. My shadow claw does 4k on average, more if it is a critical. The teleport is manageable, and again Scattering Lights is just like RoM. It's hard to deal with but it is more than entirely possible. There are more Shadow spells in the works to be added soon I believe, just give it time.

If Light/Shadow weren't on par I would have complained by now.

No. Rings of malice is easy to dodge. It spawns really far away and in a box like formation. I've used it. I fight against it on a regular. Its homing is weak too. You can dash in any direction and a lot of damage is whiffed.

Scattered lights spawn in more random intervals around you, and much closer that ring of malice with a better homing. That or they last longer. Cause when you dash it doesnt just miss or go circling around you or just fade away. It usually hits. And it ticks 1.5+ per ball. If half the balls hit, it already does the damage of your shadow claw, without having to be in melee range. Without having to worry about shitty hit boxes. I just watched this shit go down 4 times straight. Its REALLY fresh in my memory and I seen people try different things to cope with it. Ive seen it before too, but now watching it happen four times straight I can confidently say theres all kinds of problems with it.

But of course you are just a verb god and everyone else is just too dumb or lazy to deal with light. Thats why its so used and so good and so undefeated. The people with light who lose totally dont lose based on RPL/Stat differences and totally dont lose against other light people.

Edit;

Wait I get it. You have shadow walk, so you take 0 damage by clicking the shadow walk and avoid scattered lights. It also gives you that walk speed buff so you can probably kite the light unlike most people who have to deal with slows while scattered lights is casting, or who just dont have a movement buff to out-kite it.

I don’t get touched by light orbs, it’s just RoM. If you don’t know how to dodge it, it’s difficult. But once you learn it, it’s just a waste and you get to counter their all in if they risk it. I don’t like fighting light users at all, because I actually have to think. Anyone else I just do whatever. Lights fine imo, and I hate it.
