back in the trenches to advocate for magma tree
as a master there's just one big thing wrong with this skill that is, on paper, really strong and super cool to use.
first and foremost, probably the most egregious offender, is the time it takes for the magma fists to fall. realistically this is a good balancing tool since the space it covers and the potential for damage is quite high, but this damage ceiling will really only be reached if your target is both standing completely still, and in an overlap of the smaller AoEs which make up magma fist. in my tests of using the spell, even when my opponent was slowed, they never had much trouble escaping the aoe before the individual circles landed anywhere near them, unless they got unlucky and happened to be under a few of the initial ticks when they fell.
otherwise?
damage feels fine (if it hits at all)
the ability to cancel paired with being gcde is fine, though i've literally never found the former ability to be very useful at all, since you're effectively just gimping an already questionably useful aoe skill.
the only main upside is the size of the attack, which feels nice for control of the box, and the duration is suitable for what a master should be. however neither of these things really ever come into play i feel, and are tertiary to the issue that there's really no damage being dealt to leverage these aspects of the spell.
i think the most obvious fix would be to make the time from cast to the actual effect of the aoe touching down shorter, and if necessary decreasing the size of the aoe itself so that it's not an instant drop that covers half of the box.
