for the record, i ceased having any sincere opinions in this thread past the first page, wherein i expressed that i believe that anybody who supports this being added to the game and claims not to be sexually attracted to spider girls is being to some extent disingenuous.

i think rather than railing against any sexuality associated with them it should be accepted as part of what they are, otherwise all you will get is the continued disappointment as people continue to fail your expectations of chaste spider ladies time and time again

here's my actual take:

think of it like vampires; sexuality is actually kind of inherent to the basic concept, and to actively push against it as though it takes away all legitimacy is actually very silly. however, we very obviously have vampire characters who, while they may be sexy, are universally not "yeehaw sexy vampire" as a concept. you can have something sexy without that taking away significantly from it.

i'm sure that if we come together and accept they're sexy, and then give them substance which allows them to exist in the context of the game meaningfully (such as, for instance, being some form of Nyx-spawned Shadowmire guardians in a similar vein to Ents, or even just having Arachne as an alternate sprite for ents with various forms of refluffing (your vines are your spiderlings, of course!) would be much more successful than porting old lore and tying them to a trio of magics when every race that does have a discount is attached to only one

as it is people are latching onto sexy yeehaw spider mommies because there's no webbing (heh) here that actually ties them into the context and story of e3 as it stands. this as written does not really belong in the game in any capacity. people would go 'haha cool backstory' and then proceed to murderfuck their days and nights away because that's more interesting than "arachnid earth elementals". u gotta have a reason for them to exist and right now there's neither anything stopping them from being fluffed nor anything requiring their existence.

make an ent and wiggle ur 80 billion spider-vines at me. same purpose is served

This is honestly good and constructive feedback. I appreciate the input on it all. You bring up some valid points about it. Most I don't disagree with about it at all. I think respriting an ent would be fine temporarily till the full race is ready. but I'm more or less suggesting this race to be added in later on. 

As for saying they'd add nothing to the story... Vampires are added in randomly when the world has grown dry usually as seen in the past like in SoA. No reason Arachne can't be given the same treatment. 

That's all I have to say about your response and feedback as it was all around a good response that I respect.
