The ground trembled with thunderous applause. By dawn’s early light a promise would be fulfilled. Blistering rays of sunlight cast shimmering rays over a placid ocean, bestowing a golden path from shore to horizon. Few of the Archangels creations were quite as pristine as Esshar. It struck within Maltziel a chord of discord to realize Esshar would in time be blighted too, a fate bestowed upon the land of his own accord.

A rare intervention from the heavens. A regrettable one.

Maltziel took heed of the ritual site, contained within a sanctuary of divine creation; a temple of sorts, its glimmering marble surfaces a rather gratuitous decision. Maltziel did not doubt the success of the ritual, for with the Archangels blessing there were few things he were not capable of. Rather, his concern was for Esshar, worries that the unprecedented energy that would quake the lands with the promised salvation might split it in two, an outcome he had definitely decided to be counterproductive.

Contained within his divine fortifications, the runic circle illuminated, not of yellow or of resplendent gold, but of the most potent, pristine white. A beacon of purity. A beacon of salvation. Even his temple fell scrutiny to its awesome output, those ivory foundations cracking like glass.

Maltziel watched on, unabashed and nonchalant, as the Astyan refugees were granted the promise of deliverance.

The temple would remain, untouched, for few knew faith enough to step within its hallowed walls. If naught else, it would serve as a reminder of His mercy, and of the folly of man in a world once more deafened by the beat of war drums.

With Osrona and the Petrakis dynasty on the precipice of eradication, The Faith looks toward hallowed grounds for enlightenment, or as the case may be, salvation. In the face of certain demise, they plead once more to the Heavens and Stars for guidance.
