Spell Balance Suggestions
Piercing does as much damage as the other intermediates. Maybe +1 or +2 spell damage. (Intermediate spells like that all hover around 14-15 spell damage). Any person using lightning stacks power unless they're a fool. It's a public spell you get for free. If you want something dummy thick then app for it. 16 dmg for a free, low cd, fast moving spell is pretty alright already when you consider the entire tree. It's an unnecessary request to buff.

So allow me to reiterate what he means because from what I can tell, your response completely whiffs the purpose of his request like somoene shouting koby and shooting a brick

NERF piercing strike

BUFF Arc of Devastation to compensate

It's not wrong to request not a buff to the tree, but a LOGICAL STAT SWAP amongst the intermediates and masters. Arc of Devastation as it stands right now? Unironically weaker damage, and higher difficulty in landing in comparison to piercing strike, the autohit homing that lands so long as you're within 15 tiles.

Make piercing 13.5 damage[maybe bump the delay before teleport?], and bump arc of devastation's damage by 1 (and maybe travel speed to equal lightning javelin.)

It would be like Tsunami[Master] being weaker than Tidal Wave[Intermediate]....Which it kind of is because tidal wave has lingering heal ticks and tsunami doesn't. [If I'm wrong on that someone correct me with an example rather than word.]

Also, anyone using any tree stacks power unless they're a fool...

SO AS A SUM UP OF WHAT I'M SAYING

nerf piercing strike

buff arc.

Lightning has enough damage in its tree as it is, I just think it needs to be swapped around so that the power really shows itself in the intermediates and masters considering that lightning javelin and lightning burst are lethal enough.

What can I math out now?

Tsunami has lingering heal ticks! They're the same as tidal wave's.

[Source: used to have tsunami till recently. take my word for it!]

Taking ya word for it. Nevermind that then.

Every other spell in lightning is at best, in an alright spot. But when comparing Arc to other intermeds as I pointed out. It is found hilariously wanting. Please don't make other lightning spells worse to make Arc seem better, that's silly.

On the note that lightning is purely high dmg, yes, that's more or less the truth. Hence why it's not about other lightning spells.

Though I could complain about SHOCK having a 3x3 AOE that's buggy, when other spells such as golden bolt is a 1x3 projectile with damn near the same stats, 1 less dmg, and is 100x more reliable in a fight. The same comparison can be made with fireball as well (Although it has 6 dmg, but the fire ticks and SLOW? are what makes it recover IMO). So what is shock's role? Being a worse whip spell, with no GCDE (water), stun, knockback, heal (blood), and has the most buggy hitbox in the game that doesn't work half the time. It's only real advantage as a 'whip' is compared to water, because it has twice the dmg. Meanwhile against blood it has a shorter CD.

Arc is pretty slow moving actually. It moves at about the same speed as a Sand Avalanche. Very much avoidable.

It has good damage. Don't think it needs more damage. Probably just needs utility. Blind is not a good status condition tho and everyone hates it so not that.

To put my own two cents in to make this seem like a better aspect in general.

Remove Shock from Lightning (Because its bugged to high hell)

Make Arc of Devastation an Intermediate (Hear me out)

Change its name to something else to compensate for the lacking name.

Bring back cloudburst from the old Holy Lightning tree from Spires. (Increase that range but not the damage) and make that the master.

Raise Piercing Strike's CD from base 32 to 34 seconds.

Keep Arc the same damage, but increase CD from 30 to 32 seconds.

Cloud burst back in spire was basically what Hellstorm gem is, but The Hellstorm (Original) Slows, the Holy cloud burst was a variant of Bolt that would rain down like I think it was 4-5 power bolts every 1.5.-2 seconds you were in a 5 tile aoe? No pull or anything, no slows, just raining damage. For lightning, that'd be pretty nice to have and not to mention Lightning would have a little more utility with a lower damage spell.

I think it lasted like 10 seconds so you got hit by like max 5-6? So adding that up that's like 25-30 power back then? But it was easy to walk away from? Yeah, might be a little better sounding. Hell lower it to like 7 seconds of AoE, but it hits every 1.5 seconds of 4.5 power bolts, maybe CD of 35 seconds maybe 40. But just a suggestion to give a master Lightning deserves rather what it wants. Because if you make Arc to strong (Like increasing projectile speed) Then effectively you can get a free hit off of it like Prism beam does for Light. Make it an instant cast like it too and then you get people shitting themselves because it'd do way more damage over a longer and wider tile range.

Even if you change Arc, some Masters like Blood's out class it with its innate abilities like Severance's Teleport. Or AoE damage from VV. Or EVEN! Energy's master spell to deflect damage. But, as it stands, Arc doesn't need a damage nerf or buff, but just given utility like Wooloo said. Holy Lightning Cloud burst at the time was really based on utility in a fight.

No, anyways.

Make Smog, VenoVortex, and VenoDash (only seems to apply if you spend a ridiculous amount of time standing in a puddle) apply poison. They're poison spells. They should all apply poison.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
