Injury Suggestion - SilkiyTea - 08-11-2020 okay, after reading two confessions from people who i like roleplaying with a lot! i have decided that i feel like i should speak up about injuries! temporary injuries: temporaries are in a fine place and i like them, people need to see a doctor or get a healing elixir to fix themselves up! which means there is a flow of roleplay or a flow of economy for alchemists! permanent injuries: i am sure that this is more controversial topic. i really do not like permanent injuries! i understand a want to give people development and have an overarching story with trials and tribulations. but, you should not, when you lose a fight, feel like you can only go downwards instead of upwards! like you cannot improve because of an injury permanently holding your character back from fulfilling their potential!!! i do not like it, i do not think it makes the experience fun, and i think a game regardless of context, should always feel fun! so? i think i have an idea. i do not know if it is a good idea. but here it is! the idea is that, when people are permanently injured, the trauma kits? give them their vitality back, but there is a big caveat! instead of it permanently healing the injury, it must be MAINTAINED, or the full force of the nerf will hit the player again and they will have to get a new trauma kit applied to fix the untouched injury. think of it like some sort of.. i do not know, checkup i guess? where a trauma-kitted perm nerf needs to be checked up by a Medic on a yearly or bi-yearly basis to maintain its perfect condition. i think this is would work well in making there be a constant flow of roleplay to medics, and it will stop people from feeling like... if they lose, and get injured? they aren't going to be able to improve. RE: Injury Suggestion - Hunts Alone - 08-11-2020 (08-11-2020, 02:54 AM)SilkiyTea Wrote: permanent injuries: I think a better idea would be having a pretty costly item that T1 alchemists can make that repairs a perm for a limited amount of time, so in the case of scheduled matchups like wars/raids it can be fixed at a decently steep cost. Could be all perms could be just one, something like a lax essence just for perms. Then likely has a cd on it or something to that effect. RE: Injury Suggestion - ~Aoria-sama~ - 08-11-2020 I like the general idea of this.
However that being said..
Perms bring higher stakes to battles.
Makes people more hesitant to just go around fighting everyone without fear.
Which as a result, makes for better well thought out decisions.
Realistic RP.
If there's no fear, it's not realistic!
Also perms make for great dev, and with a good kit it's only -2vit which is nothing.
I've seen players whoop just as easy with 3 perms.
RE: Injury Suggestion - Shadovarn - 08-11-2020 ![]() Like so? Replacement limbs need to be checked up on! RE: Injury Suggestion - SilkiyTea - 08-11-2020 i guess i do not understand the thrill or fear of getting injured in combat. my thrills and fears come from the interactions that come from it! the aspect of danger that is conveyed through the text, rather than the mechanics! i am not a person who particularly likes realism, i prefer absurdity and fantasy at its highest sort of peek? where some things cannot be truly scientifically explained and sometimes just work! the closest to it that i have felt where the suspension of disbelief was sort of wavering was actually how strong my character became before an age that i felt was reasonable. but permanent injuries just, do not seem fun to me. i usually only see frustration and unhappiness when it involves them from other players. i myself would not like to receive one, but i am also completely fine if i do since that is the mechanic of the game and as people know i am not afraid to throw my character into extremely dangerous situations! example: attacking Bolt when i thought he was a higher roleplay level than myself and being intervened by trik example 2: choosing to attack irkalla when i would have had a better shot at fighting jaegar during the demon rebellion. i just do not understand the appeal i guess. and i have yet to see a situation where someone has truly enjoyed or got something fun out of being permanently injured... i usually only see demotivation and upsetness.
