Tbh, maybe tune the numbers and for players who haven't got the boost - give double AP weekends, or maybe even just 10% AP weekends (that don't stack with the journal boosted characters - don't allow them to have the double AP, as a week of 15-30% will add up far more in the long run).
Citrine: +15% Activity Point Gain
Ruby: +20% Activity Point Gain, +5 Power / +5 Vitality.
Sapphire: +25% Activity Point Gain, +5 Power / +5 Vitality.
Amethyst: +30% Activity point gain, +10 Power / +10 Vitality.
50% just feels a bit over the top - I like the idea of AP boosts, just not in such steep numbers. AP boosts could really help lots of players snowball into more active figures, on top of the already existing IP requirements for hiddens.
I also like the idea of boosted IP gain as an alternative to the AP Boost as well - though obviously that has a hard ceiling, given the hidden limit per characters. I think there's a lot that can be done with this overall good writer boost, as it feels a lot like E1; where when admins checked logs, it was for quality and not the quantity that took over this games leveling system.

I'm largely ambivalent on this, but I think thats an unfair assessment in terms of favoritism, tbh. Our current headmins (who I assume would have final say on these) are Tattles, Mouse, and Vriska. Have any of them ever given you the inkling they're likely to unfairly distribute this boosts based on cliques?
It's not a matter of actual favoritism taking place.
It's about the perception of such.
I personally don't have to worry about these things, as I generally don't apply myself in the manner to receive such benefits or perks, I'm viewing this and trying to wrap my mind around why they would do such a thing, when all it does is encourage players who -think- they deserve something, screaming admin favoritism.
When this happens, eventually some clique will get up in arms about it, then the entire admin team comes under fire for something that's literally a non-issue.
This may be hard to believe, but I'm mad because this action seems like the administration team is actively shooting themselves in the foot. I know and I understand that they want to encourage good RP, but systems like this don't, in my opinion, encourage the type of RP that is deserving of this form of reward.
It encourages try-hard RP that is painfully long and miserable to read, and disrupts the natural cathartic flow of a good and comfortable scene. (This isn't meant to insult those who prefer making long-form posts, as even I do this from time to time.)
It's a bit of a difficult concept to explain, but I'm not worried about the stat-bonuses or whatever the fuck.
They may call it a knee-jerk if they like (they being the administration team, as an action taken by one of them reflects on all of them, which is a point that will probably rankle even more hides) yet, an unpopular idea is clearly an unpopular idea.

Edit : I've known it was action points from the start, before someone thinks that's the argument im trying to make.

yes, and that is honestly the issue. it will be something that ensures that those who already have footing get faster gains and continue to grow at a higher rate, it isn't really going to be something that promotes growth of newer characters - and, if it does, something is probably wrong if a fresh spawn is given 50% action point gain because they're a known good writer.

Let them sacrifice IP to heal a perm.
Or do something to heal a perm.
Because at one point or another, the build up of perms is.... Painful.

This? Doesn't really matter to me. People will complain no matter what happens so you just get use to it at this point. Even myself.

and i'd just like to very politely remind that whoever you're arguing with is a human on the other end, and to maybe take a minute or two to cool off instead of verbally unloading on someone who might have been a friend of yours, before you say something that you'll regret

Good evening,
I do not completely agree with the contents of the thread 'Commendations' and I have concerns about how it may be implemented or the problems that it solves. However, as a cooperative friendly and drama avoiding citizen I feel that we should give the system a chance because the team has been hard at work attempting to improve a situation that many of us feel is untenable or unexciting! :)
If I might dare to be a little "forward thinking", I think that in the long run this may be a prototype upon which a more robust system of rewarding can be created.

I don't care about commendations.
I think the fact they want to make sure those IC leaders who maybe aren't the best verbers, or perhaps their build is completely garbage because they built based around IC is good.
I'm hesitant on the fact that if you hit 200-220 (idk when), they'll take away is a little... Eh? Because that's generally around the time characters come into leadership positions.
