Qian

From Chronicles of Eternia

An artist's rendition of Qian. Accounts are unconfirmed however as none had been able to claim to have seen them with proper verification.

A mysterious emissary of Mestra, said to have the power to will things into existence by the whims of passionate creativity and imagination. It has been said that this one has ascended into the being they are now by moving Mestra to tears from their artistic creations alone. Said to be bound to an eternal garden of beauty within the Tower of Aetius, guarding its poignance for eons on end.

It is believed that a seed planted within their garden will grow into any material object one could desire. So much so that foolish souls who sought it out were never found again, said to be trapped in the Garden of Opulence, either dead or tempted by the emissary Qian to remain there until the end of their days.

Rumors

The validity of these claims is up to speculation.

  • It is claimed that Qian has made thousands of paintings, yet only a handful are considered true masterpieces by them. Furthermore, those who gaze into these specific pieces are said to enter an eternal trance of emotion inspired by the works.
  • Many have moved in to court them, yet none of them have been successful in their strides. Some argue that the emissary only reciprocates to those who can provide more than they can give.
  • A mysterious paintbrush they owned was rumored to be able to paint things into existence, from minor objects, to relics, to even passages into the fabric of reality.
  • Some have claimed that they are avaricious, requiring those that enter their domain to provide something of equal value to what they hope to achieve from their garden or face the curse of losing their capability to be beautiful. Others say the curse invokes one to be forever trapped within one of her paintings.

Lorekeeper - OOC

This is a lorekeeper: A character played by a DM that has an active role in the world. They are different from standard PCs as follows,

  • Cannot join raids unless they're specifically a target; this includes all offensive battles.
  • Cannot intervene through combat to prevent a capture or be intervened on.
  • Should avoid roaming the map if it could potentially lead to hostilities unless disguised.
  • Can host mini-events, spawn items, etc, with GM supervision. Also acts as a mentor figure and gateway to potential magic or plot hooks.
  • Can kill / be a threat, but should do so with good reason and at a high standard.
