Chiron, also known as Starstone, is an extremely valuable and rare crystal that is believed to be the remains of a star's core.
The commonly told story is that the star was destroyed before recorded history, splitting into many hundreds of meteors that then rained down on Esshar. A battle that took place in the netherworld between the ancients and tore apart an entire dimension. This highly reactive material that collided with Eternia gradually crystalized, all while giving off waves of intense magical energy that naturally attracted wildlife in the area, often mutating them through the centuries.
Despite the age of the crystal, Chiron is still warm to the touch and gives off a faint glow. It loses this once the magic of the gemstone has been harnessed, becoming an empty shell. The unique (and highly concentrated energy) make this resource one of the most desired in the world, rivalling even the spire shards of Agartha in demand. A common side-effect of possessing Chiron on your person is visions and flashbacks, where the celestial energy touches a person's psyche, though some seers might purposely use this with the intent to gain wisdom and insight.
The faithful of Osrona have utilized Chiron in some of their holiest rituals, believing the material to allow them to commune with their dear stars. Therians, on the other hand, have sought out this mineral to create advancements in technology and weaponry that only a rogue culture of the mountains could dream up.
