Mercy - Justice

[Simple]

As the years go on so too have I matured in equal measure, able to realize now the folly of those bygone. For years Osrona has claimed to stand as a pillar of this world, a shining beacon for those of Esshar to gaze upon. Rather than achieving this, however, the city has become a bastion of weak will and stupidity taken in the form of 'mercy.'

What is mercy, if not a means to an end? What is mercy, if not merely a false illusion utilized by those most wicked and depraved?

Or so the definition of mercy by several of my predecessors, anyways. My perspective on it is something else altogether, for there is redemption to be found in just, true mercy. That which the fathers of my father beckoned for, those who called on the divine above to save them from their damnation, for absolution to be granted in their time of need. It was through this divine act that my people crafted an empire which sprawled for over a millennia, an empire which saw redemption.

This is what mercy truly is, not the farce which has gripped the hearts of my people for years now.

As I approach the throne of Osrona.. I can only hope that through a firm, yet fair hand we will be led into an age of prosperity. We will be able to rediscover our purpose, and never let go of it no matter what storm might face us. It is our duty, it is our responsibility to create a solid foundation on which an empire will stand upon, that which will hold our people firm for generations.

Osrona will no longer be seen as spineless or weak-willed, nor will we give into the temptation of stupidity any longer.
