A zero context story.
#1
Enjoy this zero context story that takes place somewhere in Eternia, at a completely ambiguous time, you can figure out from the context clues where it is, and who the sailor is talking about. Needed something to get the writing fix, ill probably update this post a few times a week until I'm free and on normal time again. IC section didn't fit this, fight me.

5th of Emberlain; Port City of Seran

Winds to the west, a week of portage. Not a terrible deal, not fantastic. Weather here a bit warm for my liking, dry as bones. Local's eyes are all weird, unusual tones. Innkeeper's eyes were red, though his sister's were blue, and his son's were a strange filmy green. Good kid, though his sister kept better company. Drinks were good, a hot kind of spicy, it was unusual, all the better to partake in. I'd have bought some if I learned the name of the stuff. Never did, hope to see Seran again though. We're underway, though we didn't have long to release the boat from it's moorings. Hel of a storm coming from the deserts to the north, a wall of dust overtook the city as we sailed away. Hope that innkeep closed his windows.

We're sailing south for now, though we'll cut to sunset, then jib ourselves a good distance from the shoreline, the pirates in those waters surprisingly aren't those bastard fish. Helmsman assumes asswind fore and fullgust aft, so i'll probably not be too busy, assuming we don't find ourselves tacking. A nice change, I suppose. Any luck, we won't see any pirates at all, though off these coasts you can never be sure. Regal's belly is so full, we'd have a rough time getting free of any chase. Still, our crew is better, and our sails are fresh darned. Even if we should, I'd take those fishfolk over what's around here. Strange boats, they sit low in the water, hard to see at a distance, and that's how they get you. Once you get close enough, that's that. Fucking palm trees burst from the keel of the bastards, and they catch wind quick. It's not even the crew of those vessels you need to be cautious of, it's the hull.

If it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't. We've a good boat, Regal will handle.
