Into the Maelstrom!

Rohmalock, in his eternal quest to obtain relics of lightning, as well as increase his affinity and power with said element. Heard rumor of a material known as Voltic Amber. A material only formed inside of hardy trees, that received, and survived multiple lightning strikes. He spent years researching the islands near Esshar, and with some help of local tavern gossip in Achyon, Osrona, and occasionally the reef. He's finally triangulated a suitable spot to search. Confident in his efforts, he now recruits mercenaries, and charters a crew to take him there.

Given the nature of the island, Rohmalock suspects there to be some sort of magical ruins causing the tempest, long before he even departed. Though that's not hard to figure out, as the person he first heard of this material from, did say something about ruins, or something 'strange' going on in the island. Given that the section of ocean he seeks to scour, is permanently plagued by storms and rough waters. If they even make it to the island, they'll find that his quest is no easy contract.

Additional Information: While combat and monsters should be present on the island. It should not be the main focus. The environment ideally, would be the main foe. As the group is traveling into the center of a Maelstrom, centered on an island that constantly is battered by high winds, torrential downpours, and lightning. But for the most part, almost anything can happen!

"Come on now! We don't have all year! Get the cargo loaded, unless you wish to starve! It'll be a long voyage. What do you mean you didn't buy lemon juice? GET SOME LEMON JUICE NOW!"

Shouts, demands, and orders come from Rohmalock's mouth. Making full use of his spare time, and prestige as the person who's the sole sponsor of this mission. Everyone having been paid in full long before the journey set out. He'll afford no missteps at the start. Everything will go correctly. At least until they get closer to the island, and the maelstrom.

What follows is a tale for the ages. What wonders will they find on the island? Will the crew manage to not kill each other over the long days spent in somewhat cramped dingy quarters. Hopefully the smelly deckhands and other non magically attuned crew of the ship can at least sing their shanties decently well. Lest it gets on everyone's nerves, causing someone to be a late night snack for Carnivore.
