Chosen of Maltziel

A letter pinned to the message board of Osrona, yet word quickly spreads throughout all of Esshar that Geztelle ven Pelleaux has unlocked some of the secrets of White Magic. Having recently healed the permanent injury and restored the eyesight of the Archmage, Amori, her sights are set upon mastery.

Brothers and Sisters of Astya, 

With a heavy  heart I must address Esshar as a whole. For years now I have dedicated my life to the study of Maltziel's creed, as well as the pursuit of White Magic. It is no secret that the people of Esshar have been plagued by a constant cycle of warfare and strife, losing brothers, mothers, fathers, sisters, and those whom we hold dear.

The ambition of man has long since sought to unravel the very fabric which holds everything together. Generation after generation we see the rise of warriors, bandits, sycophants, and those who practice the dark arts, yet where does it get us? Back to where we were, back to where we always were- that being the needless loss of life, the prolonged cycle of death and destruction.

They tell you that this is simply how it is, that no matter what we will continue to come to disagreement, that their actions are justified, but on this day I tell you that it is not true. From the expansionist acts of Barsburg to the sacrificial rituals of Moxtli, I implore you to reconsider your beliefs, to look in the mirror and see that your actions only lead down a path which harms the greater good, which wastes the lives of the innocent.

I have kept the Blessed Tome of Maltziel close to my heart, ever since I was entrusted with it by the divine. I was instructed to safeguard Maltziel's words, to spread and live by example. I swore a solemn oath, and it is one I intend to adhere to fully. This is why I now announce the formation of the 'Chosen of Maltziel.'

I have taken the first steps into White Magic, and while I am by no means comparable to the likes of Saint Ermis and Saint Calael, it is an art which I intend to study further, to perfect and master to the utmost degree. I intend to take students, acolytes, those who see the issue in today's society and wish to assist me in my research and endeavor to rid this world of evil. I aim to cleanse Nysea of the corruption which festers within its streets, I aim to cleanse this world of dark magics and witchcraft, and ultimately I wish to bring about a new age of White Magi.

The Chosen of Maltziel will be the torchbearers, the pioneers of this new age. I am accepting of those from all walks of life, from all ages and loyalties. So long as you embrace the true Faith, the true word of the divine, you will have a place among my ranks, within this group. Simply seek me out, and together we will become a beacon of light to which the rest of Eternia looks to for inspiration and hope, for guidance and wisdom.

In parting I leave you with these words of wisdom from the Tome of Maltziel itself, words that we should all strive to live by, no matter our rank or disposition:  

'A king is the lowest of beings, for rulers exist only to serve those they rule..... That is why Angels are are below humanity. We strive to improve them by helping them, not by controlling them...... (Others) claimed that I described not a king, but a slave. But I tell you now, they are one and the same.'

Recruitment for the Chosen of Maltziel is now underway, the Stellus searching for potential students and acolytes from all over Esshar. This will be a minor group, a sect of the Faith itself which is focused upon White Magic and the cleansing of impurities. Minor events together, as well as further researching White Magic, Wayfinding, and other various magics of the Light.
