As it stands now, you are forced to get shadow aura in order to get to intermediate. Should have the option not to take the aura unless you wish to, due to multiple aura's being useless.

I remember back when holy lightning had its aura as the opener, which made it expensive to get and not a great buy imho unless you got HL aura as your top. Should be the same deal in the case where you do not want the aura/need it. It is a lot of rpp to spend on something you wont be useing.
