Duniya Hintze

"Our firstborn will be named after their great grandfather Dun.
The best way to avoid repeating history is to remember it."
----------------------------------------------

Born to a depressive and reclusive mess of a father and a mentally unstable, murderous mother, Duniya Task-Hintze is the eldest of four children.
As a baby, she was born with skin thinner and whiter than tissue paper. Her veins were visible through the epidermis, black as midnight, just as well was her left eye. The other a bright, rosy pink color, same as her mother's. The mere touch of another person reduced her to wailing and tears. A diagnosis by an expert medical doctor determined that this was a disease occult in nature, a curse likely inflicted by a demon or witch. Her mother was likely the target, but this child was the one that suffered for it.

For years, Duniya was unable to even walk on her own without the aid of crutches or another person. Though she is a Drakanite, she grew much slower than even the ordinary humans she lived among. Never would she reach a height above five feet. Her wingspan is comedic in its diminutive state, making her look more like a mutant honey bee than a dragon. For this reason, in her home of Theria, she always felt inadequate. A society that valued strength more than anything else - what place could someone as fragile as her possibly have?

Many treatments have been attempted on her, all of which either failed or proved far too risky to perform in full. Nothing can get rid of the blackness in her veins. The shadowy void in her left eye only seems to grow darker, deeper and more unsettling with time. Through the years, she has made many attempts to find ways to strengthen her broken and withered body with magical potions, modern technologies, and rigorous training, but nothing ever seems to stick.

As a young woman, she still cannot walk upright in an ordinary manner, and she has no physical strength to speak of. Her siblings all out postured her, despite her age over them. By far, Duniya was the weakest in her family. All she has grown to rely on is her wit and the power of the flames that came with her draconic blood. Though, she could not call herself an acolyte of the Fireblooded Church if quitting were an option.

It wasn't an easy road ahead of her...

and it shouldn't be surprising to anyone that this curse was slowly eroding the fortitude of her mind.

farewell to you, my light

the soaring wyrm found his final perch in the clouds

leaving behind only a single reminder of his presence

a hatchling, pure and blissfully unaware

if only you could meet her

she's just like you

at times i can not even bear the sight

of her magenta eyes

and brilliant white hair

i know what i am about to do

is exactly what you would

if our place in fate's plan were reversed

but would you forgive me,

if i fail,

and leave her behind?

i do not know the answer i would give in your place
