The Black Spot - Marked For Death

With curiosity piqued the note was opened and bore no words yet spoke the message true. Trembling hands revealed a single mark:

 

The Black Spot.

 

 

 

 

 

Whispers float across the taverns dotting the lands of Esshar saying that a note bearing the 'black spot' has been left in the desert resort known as The Simple Seahorse. Through simple means it has been announced: For crimes against honor Goreli the Sirenian has been marked for death by The Deep Company. It is not a bounty to be claimed by others who might seek gold, but a toll that can only be paid in blood to reap glory and preserve the code of The Deep.

 

 

The First Mate, Murtock Reave, who issued the command had only this cryptic message to say on the matter.

 

"It be our life t'take what we please, but there be certain things y'can only earn. Fer too long folk have got by thinkin' we ain't got a code- Now they'll be seein' it when her blood paints a coat on th'Bride's deck."

With the ring of a gunshot and a spatter of gore.. The promise is kept.

 

The Black Spot has been fulfilled.

 

 

Once again the creep of whispers fills taverns across Esshar with a hushed ambience, but this time people tell a different tale. Goreli, the resort owner and alleged captain, was killed by The Deep Company. Beyond that it is said that members of the crew openly displayed her lifeless body across Esshar declaring their victory to showcase the fate which awaited those who tread on their honor. The mark of death had been fulfilled and they denied any any coin from those who were appreciative to see the woman meet their justice.
