Clear and defined rules on Disguises.

WARNING:  This contains an opinion.

Hi there everyone, it's me again, Jodashi.

Recently I've seen some people becoming upset due to meta gamae on disguises and things like that. I just have some personal suggestions towards disguises that there needs to be much much more effort than just..

Putting on a hood, or a mask, or just changing your in game character sprite. I personally think that disguises should be a craftable creation. (obviously don't make them cheap to make, but also don't make them require arcanium or a chiron or something stupidly hard to get.)

Apping for a disguise seems to be a little tedious as well when it could be handled IC rather than OOC.

But when you DO create your disguise you should have to do these three things.

1. Choose an alias to go under that goes with your disguise, upon creation of the disguise it will change your name until it is taken off.

2. Change your character sprite and description to match the disguise you have created. Putting on a hood and cloak and calling it quits isn't very good as it defeats the whole purpose of disguises taking effort to obtain and maintain.

3. Change your quote color. Now you may think that this is a dumb and minsicule thing.. But quote color is an identity for some players. It's their characters voice.. Obviously if you're gonna disguise yourself, you want to muffle or deepen your voice maybe even make it a bit higher! (Which.. Is pretty easy to do anyways in reality, its not a tough skill.) Just darken or lighten the color of your text if you want even! Just make it noticeably different.

I am open to suggestions on this. I just want to have more discussion on the rules and such of disguises so we don't have these problems in the future is all.

I see.. But I still think they should HAVE to stick to these rules. This is also more so directed at people half assing disguises and expecting people to not know who they are when.. They have the same desc, no apped diguise, and just slapped on a mask or somethin on their sprite. I would say this however, making disguises non app and making them a craftable thing would probably be better in the long run.

Admins have clearly stated in the past you can roleplay being disguised (hood, masks, dark clothes, etcetera) without a disguise item.

You must have some telling features, however (even with disguise item) that can connect you to real identity.

Disguise item is a measure against metagame, as some players are trying hard in order to chase the clout of "doing the big reveal of masked person".

What you stated is already in disguise rules as well, save for quote color. Most do that on their own regardless, so that point is obsolete.

We do need to note that if a character doesn't have an active disguise, they're not disguised. Additionally, if they attend a battle it's public information to those who attended and could recognize them.

For disguises themselves, they do need to have some kind of hint/way of recognizing the person behind the mask, and they need to be physical objects to hide someone's face (masks, hoods, etc.)

Hmm. For my ic purposes, is this in effect now or has it always been in effect

Characters have never been anonymous during battles unless with an actual disguise (but even then a character could still potentially be recognized), and when asked that has been clarified. So it has always been in effect. Disguises, even before they were mechanical items, have never been foolproof and we've always allowed people to recognize characters that they should know, even if they're trying to disguise themselves.
