Guild System Rework?
#1
Right so - a lot of people think there should be more guilds running around. I don't necessarily disagree, but I think one of the main reasons why guilds are such a struggle fest is:

1) Price - you need 500 coins to establish one. You may think it isn't pricey, but to some people it is.
2) Structure - there is a strict 5 (or 4?) level ranking system for the guilds.
3) Inaccesibility to funds - Meaning funds you drop in, you can't just withdraw easily

Ideas to try and fix this:

1) Negate the price or lower to 100 coins or so.
2) For structure, add more ranks. Or perhaps even the ability to add in additional levels as players desire.
3) Add in a way for guild leaders to withdraw guild funds. Allow them to set who is able to withdraw funds up to a certain limit.

Fleshed out ideas:

2) For structure -- Right now there's I think 5 levels to ranks. What if we could keep that, but then give guild leaders the ability to add ranks as they see fit (or even lower the number of ranks). They can give custom permissions to each level of those ranks (i.e: Invites, promotions, guild funds). This would let people feel like they have more hold over their guild and customization isn't always a bad thing.

3) This ties into the above part - where you could assign each level a certain permission to withdraw funds. There should also be a tab to see who does what (i.e: Who invites someone, who kicks someone, who withdraws / contributes).

Last but not least? If you're afraid of people hoarding money from their previous characters in a guild only to withdraw it on a new character?

The other issue is there just isn't much mechanical reason to have a guild unless you're so filthy rich you can afford to set automatic pay. Or to join one unless there's a paycheck in it.

It used to be guilds allowed you to build fortifications, you could use guild summons, and so on... there was actual functional purpose to a guild. But now it's just a way to have an in game guild OOC? I think I speak for most of us when I say most guilds probably have a discord that fills that role better.

I do think maybe being able to set a property as guild owned, and have the rent be drawn from the guild bank would be a neat function.
