A journal excerpt, the encounter with the Boar God
#1
Today was perhaps, the strangest day of my incredibly odd life. I think I ran into the god of boars today.

Let me explain, during a routine meander around Esshar, collecting ingredients for alchemists I stumbled onto the boar culling grounds. The area on the peninsula to the south of Osrona. As is normal, a group of boars came up to try and injure me. Futilely, finding themselves crushed under the pressure of my water magic. No unusually sized boars today, it seemed quick enough.

And then one didn't die.

And I don't mean, it took a few more spells. No no no no. I mean it didn't die.

Ever.

Hours. Upon hours. Of fighting this. It hit only slightly harder than the average boar. But for some reason it was damn near immortal. Who knows how many children this thing could hurt if allowed to live unchecked. And so we fought.

I even saw the crimson reed but my focus was all consuming. This boar, this immortal creature, couldn't be allowed to live. And so with each blast of magic throwing around its impervious hide, the fight continued.

I tried to drown it in the ocean, to no avail. Its hide nearly impervious, it kept coming back, and attacking at my magical defenses. Making no progress either. Perhaps I learned how it felt in this moment. Fighting a foe that seemed impossible to destroy. Yet, my resolve only hardened.

Noticing it didn't seem to tire either, it followed me. We ran into a young woman who started attacking it with me, yet we continued walking. First to Osrona, but no Magi were about. And thus, we walked to Nysea.

The always magi rich Nysea fell onto it like a swarm.

First as a small group, Esbern coming to the cause. And then, everyone wanted in.

We cornered it, we threw onslaughts of magic not seen outside of war and yet still, it stood. Slowly, we were cutting through its hide, pushing through its defenses.

Bit by bit it fell until finally, it fell. By the cemetery no less. And what did we get from this beast of a boar, this impervious monster that took an army of magi to down?

Three servings of pork.
