Crinter DM:
#31
Key/Character: Seth Valmonte
Which Event: Rally the Realm

Responsiveness: There was never a moment I felt I waited too long for a response. Quick and informative!

Balance: Despite the difficulty of the battles, it felt equivalent to the task of what we were trying to accomplish. A punishment and retribution all at once.

Storytelling: The storytelling was good, great even. Interactions between the party and the DM actually had an impact on the outcome of things, avoiding a mechanized experience.

Fairness: Very well done, no complaints.

Overall: An event of such importance never felt too daunting nor did it ever, at any point, feel easy. (I'd like to stress, EVER.)

Any other comments: An event well done! 10/10

Which Event: Rally the Realm

Responsiveness: Very fast, like crazy fast!

Balance: The first battle had a bit of a hiccup but not to the point of it being unsalvageable, in fact they made it work rather well.

Storytelling: The story telling behind it all was rather interesting, it gave insight on what I didn't know...which was a lot more than Bugs are bad.

Fairness: Very fair!

Overall: I liked it! 10/10 would run from death, pain, and mayhem again!

Any other comments: Hug?

Which Event: Black hunt 1

Responsiveness (Were their narrations posted within a reasonable time-frame and were they quick to respond?): 10/10, the quickness, the speed, its fantastic in its entirety. Only think that we were waiting on was ourselves due to sleepiness.

Balance (How entertaining were the battles, and any obstacles/traps?): Fuck you mal/10. Everything was balanced for its difficulting. However? God, none of us were healers and damn did that shit STING...In a good way

Storytelling (Did it feel like an adventure, did the content of the narrations meet your expectations?): 10/10 Felt like a true traditional black hunt in its entirety. A generational hunt with tones of ursidae lore? HELL YEAH.

Fairness (Were the punishments justified and earned, was the risk to reward ratio good?) 10/10 Fair in its entirety.

Overall: Def would recommend Mal for other future hard CoD events, especially with his fun type of dming.

Any other comments: You may strike fear into the others with your powersmash's...but I WILL ALWAYS SURVIVE THEM.

Which Event: Black Hunt 1 / The Age of Conquest Part 1

Responsiveness: Very fast. Good job.

Balance: It seemed like their main goal was to push you to the very brink during boss fights and it depends on your own skill if you can recover from that. Out of all the fights in these two events, I especially enjoyed the last of The Age of Conquest. As they put it, MMORPG type boss fights with patterns and such to adapt to makes for a very fun style of boss fight.

Storytelling: All the tidbits of lore we gathered from the events were quite interesting and enjoyable to read. Everything was very well-written and made sense! Good job here too.

Fairness: Everyone got a little something out of it and considering the difficulty of the fights, it was well-earned.

Overall: 10/10, great DM, golden star. I love their style of boss fights and the difficulty in them; if it's not hard, there's no adrenaline, and everybody knows adrenaline equals fun.

Yeah, I did both of 'em in one go, they were both good.

Which Event: The Black Hunt - I

Responsiveness: 10/10, Don't really have to wait long, the responses are hella fast and almost always include the individual actions of the party which is based as hell.

Balance: 9/10, I didn't believe it when you said you were gonna fuck me up, I now know better. I thought it was fun as hell and my roommates will never forgive you for making me scream at 6 am.

Storytelling: 10/10, The story was hella good, it brought more details on just how Aryn is spending his time there. From experimenting on Ursidae to planting a tree to command the flora, there were pieces that we were left to assume on and there were more official lore coming from the wounded Ursidae. I enjoyed it a lot.

Fairness: 10/10, Yeah I think this was fair. I had a lot of fun even if I caught a perm (disastrous 1 on first down fuck my luck) because the experience was great and I like the rewards a lot, especially the one in my possession (technically shared possession).

Overall: 9.5/10, I had a fun time. I also enjoyed the conflict you caused between party members.

Any other comments: We don't talk about what happened to Aryn.

Event: Turtle Saint's Legacy

Responsiveness: 10/10, tired and still killed it.

Balance: 10/10, even with the party's situation, it was fair and fun!

Storytelling: 10/10, built upon lore and created a great twist.

Fairness: 10/10, even the puzzles were fun, not too easy, not pointlessly obscure.

Overall: 10/10! The injuries felt like rewards despite their mechanical effects. Very well thought out.

Event: Turtle Saint's Legacy

Responsiveness: 10/10, pushed through their tiredness to deliver promptly as they could.

Balance: 10/10, it's more of less my fault for being so squishy. Thank you for being gentle. :)

Storytelling: 10/10, this is going into the lore I hope you remember that right? I'mma make it t'werk.

Fairness: 10/10, the part where we got to the temple and the two guys got explosive runes on their foreheads was funny af.

Overall: 10/10! Baby got her first perm (two, rather) and will be wearing them proudly! CAN WE GET MUCH HIGHEEEER?!

Event: Rallying the Realm

Not going to bother with the categories. I’m a rebel. Instead let me just say that beyond am incredibly minor hiccup in balance and the raw fear of god instilled in me? Perfect DM experience. Couldn’t ask for a better event experience for something as nation-defining as Rallying the Realm was and will continue to be. Fun, character-defining, truly closing off loose threads from the past in a satisfying way, one of the best perks I’ve gotten and cool writing.

Go bully him for more expeditions. You won’t regret the sheer quality you’ll get.

Character: Isolde

Event: Entropy, Stillness

Responsiveness: Very, very snappy with the responses. In addition, you were reactive to things that were going on. Responsiveness is definitely one of the strengths in your arsenal.

Balance: A few things I think are worth bearing in mind. One is the status effects certain abilities inflict. Illusion wave confuses, so (in my opinion) its usage is better off in a more tight knit area, rather than blanketed widespread. Similarly, it's good to keep skills that do unavoidable damage-over-time (curse in this case, but skills that inflict bleed are here too) a little more restrained. Rapidly hitting it until someone is at 75% may, actually, be enough to drop them fully to 0% when bleed is accounted for. I know, also, that people prefer abilities that have some degree of avoidability, so auto-hits in general I personally think ought to be avoided on events.

That bit of feedback aside, I think balancing was very good. I enjoyed the fights and the items were interesting and worthwhile in comparison to their difficulty. Very good stuff.

Storytelling: Very coherent throughout, both tonally and in terms of overarching narrative. I have no feedback to offer here because I was satisfied and content with the evening. Another bonus point nod towards reactability in this department, as well; you adjust well to people's actions.

Overall: I would go on another mal event, very happily.
