A [Literal] Trial by Fire

"Your task is to fight a Phoenix aboard a ship, and not lose it in the process. A true battle against such a creature, but I do not require you to kill it."

A task set out by a new employer, as a means of testing how how enduring and resourceful one would be.
And so, with a ship given, and a objective stated, one had to wonder how do you manage to hunt a being of pure fire on a ship made of burnables.
There was only one way to find out, by doing it.
