The Bleeding Canvases

In pursuit of her Art, Yaeka Akatsuki has taken many souls to her laboratory for 'correction'. Her perfectionist nature when it comes to her Art leads to extensive practice. Each failure was a step towards success in her eyes—each a step towards creating her long desired 'friend' Migi. Yet, she does not see those she kidnaps as people. They are test subjects, clay, canvases—naturally she makes mistakes. Or there are inconsistencies in that clay she does not want in her final artworks. Among the bloodied cages that hold them, with chains clinking as they suspend corpses adorned in preservation runes, these 'failures' are kept alive for something akin to scientific curiosity,

or 'Letting the ink dry' as Yaeka would put it.

They spend many months, some even years, undergoing constant live experimentation. Skin flayed, limbs moved to places they shouldn't go, organs replaced with those of other creatures or that of their loved ones for some sickening symbology. Such a process amongst the haze of woe, fear, and anguish, amongst the nauseating atmosphere of accursed mana, changes people.

As their nostrils fill with the scent of iron and roses, mana collects in their hearts. Their minds whittle down to naught, leaving them with barely strands of humanity as time goes on. The magic condenses, these non-magi soon gaining cores akin to magical beasts. Their sanity is replaced with nigh-brainwashing, Yaeka's prayers to Mydaea and her own mutterings about Art leaving them to parrot such things. It is something that they can cling to and ground them in reality before they become the monsters that they fear—even if they are already a part of this ghastly canvas.

Who are you?

You are one of the Vivisections, unfinished artworks of the Curator of Souls.

You have escaped the Hel of the Black Laboratory, freeing yourself after months or even years of experimentation.

You are no longer human, but an artwork. A canvas that has been painted over with a cruel brush.

You seek perfection, you seek a twisted form of beauty that comes from destruction and suffering.

Evolution. Ascension. Cultivation.

Perhaps, if you prove yourself, the Curator might finish what she started,

and make you beautiful.

OOC: This is simply a narrative role hook. As such there is no mechanical benefit to spawning in these characters. You will be provided your boosters, however. Anyone wishing for a low stakes character with the potential to write a unique narrative. It's a good time to try out some builds and explore new concepts!

You may choose whichever evolution you wish.
A sprite will be provided, but you do not have to accept it.
Other sprites can be offered as well, or you can use your own if you have one (with approval from me, to make sure that it fits with the theming of these spawns!).
