The Chapter After Mine
#1
[Image: ye3c23nm994.png]

In between the Cottage by the Republic Twlight Archives and the farmstead north of Gloomlight, once known as the 'Cerulean Perch' or currently 'The Lawn,' is a family raised.

One family, born to the Chronicler Jaherr Valkynia and Jonsi Agnass. Raised in seclusion from the public, though educated in arts and history, the eleventh year of one's nameday is nearing. The beginning of a new chapter is imminent as time allows.

What would fate make out of such young souls?

The Old Chronicler, Jaherr Valkynia; a human of Valmasian origin and a staunch republican. Though his time in the homeland is rather limited, he is familiar with the teachings of Kraus, the legacy of the Azraelite Empire and the legendary tales of old. Having been at sea since the age of nine, he traveled through the rest of the Britannian Isles and into the continent of Aegis, eventually reaching Meranthe by the time he was a grown man.

He first arrived at the island-kingdom of Fortune with his companions Aricles Alline and Tate Brier (now Garijn), entering the port of Nilhirra. He was then employed by those of the ruling Sovereign House Emeraldi to "chronicle" their family history. Since then, Jaherr has taken on the title of Chronicler. After a few years in their service, he departed for the mainland to pursue further information, eventually settling into his current role and tending the farmlands of the Lawn and other areas. In that span of time, he created draconic clones known as Faux-Wyverns.

Dedicating most of his life to the pursuit of knowledge and recording history, he is presently employed within Agne Talalt's Twilight Archives of the Republic and is a member of the Seekers of Joy. He contributes books and relics to the libraries of the former. Most often, he wanders the land in pursuit of feeding his curiosity and acquiring potential prospects. He is often brooding and conniving, though shows hints of eccentric behavior when it comes to particular topics.

He worships the Silver Lady Alacritas in an odd way. He doesn't preach.

He was granted the noble title of 'Lord' by the Oracle Thomas G. Equisol under the Holy State of Aphros, in acknowledgment of his continued loyalty, representing the farmlands and estates collectively known as the Lawn. Making him a vassal to Gloomlight.

Your Mother

Jonsi Agnass, a giant of Vdalionite heritage. Her forefathers were followers of Surtyr Folhammar, having joined exile and eventually settling within the fringes of the Vdalion Mountains. She was raised in the trade of farming and foraging; in the fashion of a quiet and peaceful life. She eventually ventured out to mainland Meranthe and began her journey there, taking up alchemy and cooking as her trades in the northern regions of the land.

Formerly a citizen of Jotunheim until its dissolution, she has since moved into the Republic. Affectionate and responsible, these traits would be used to describe her most often. She is most often the person capable of halting Jaherr's eccentric behavior when it comes to odd projects and matters.

She lightly worships the Shattered God, Ymir.

You

You would've been loved and cared for by your parents and house retainers. Growing up, you often traveled with and joined your parents throughout the lands of the Republic and sometimes Altharim. You have relatives within Arcadia through an adopted line.

Most often, you and your siblings moved between houses:

During the spring and summer years; you spent your time in the farmland countryside of the Republic, within 'the Lawn'. Fields of emerald grass and of golden wheat decorated your memories of fresh spring dews and the winded breeze of summer. You were oft told not to stray further north to the forests of central Meranthe or further west to the caves, at certain times you were shadowed by a golem drone or perhaps a wyvern of your father's creation for your safety.

During the fall and winter years, you spent time within the cities: Between the crystal-dotted Gloomlight and the walled Martyr's Vigil, by the family residence right next to the Twilight Archives on its outskirts by the golden forests of Old Aphros. There you were educated in said archives personally by your father, the working staff within and perhaps that of Agne Talalt herself. At times, your father would take you to the public sermons within the Twilight Cathedral of Gloomlight and Saint Garret's House of Hope of the Vigil.

You were raised in luxury, no doubt about that. Though your parents, -most especially your father- were somewhat strict in some matters. You were taught to have an open view of things. Much of your toys were golems and odd gizmos. On certain nights, you watched your father create strange machinations of magitech, perhaps you were interested in such and watched due your inherited curiosity. Or perhaps you were a fan of your mother's cooking and helped in her work of alchemy that always soothed the scratches of your childhood accidents.

But soon enough, as time passed and your eleventh (or later) nameday approached, the beginning of your chapter within the chronicles of Meranthe is at hand. Your father wonders how it will turn out.

  • Will be a human or perhaps that of a giant. You are one of three children.
  • Will carry the Valkynia surname.
  • Will have many connections throughout the land via your father.
  • Will bear the apparent traits of black hair, your skin would be pale or tanned with eyes of amber or emerald hue.
  • You'll be in line to potentially inherit the farmlands of 'the Lawn' if you are capable of managing the workloads of farming, cooking, defense and worse of all... taxes.
  • You'll be offered training in many arts that your parents are capable of. In fact it is expected of you to learn a runic art whether it is artifice, wayfinding, golemancy, runemancy or the arcane.
  • You'll most be helped by your parents in the creation of your own desired gear or projects.
  • Will have the Beast Zurge watch over you if your father is away.
  • You were raised to be loyal to the Republic of Paritas.
