Fairy-tales often have more truth than not woven within them. When I was a girl, my mother used to read me many stories. 

"These are the stories passed down from generations to generations," She used to tell me.
"Hundreds of years old. But there is always some sort of truth to these old tales, isn't there?" She'd say.

When I met you, I thought of one of those old stories.
And maybe its just crazy enough to help.

It was a story of a young boy, who was very sickly. His doctor had told his parents that he'd not live to see adulthood, and that a plague was eating away at his flesh and bone. His parents, convinced he was cursed from birth, sought out ways to bring unnatural healing to the boy. They wandered into the Shadowland forests, where many creatures wandered unrestricted by the rules of mere mortals. And yet they continued on to find the secrets of the Fae there, to find the secrets of healing such a curse.

Falling into a ring of mushrooms, where the veil from this reality and the next is at its thinnest.

The next day, the boy was healed - leaving his doctors and the world baffled.
Escaping death. Escaping Fate.

But what did they learn? And how were they able to return when various others did not?
