The Hero's Test - An open challenge

Within a now empty portion of Meranthe a small monolith has erupted from the soil. The stone is otherworldly and seems to stretch to the pits of the world. In its grasp, glowing in the light, sits a sword strangled by stone. A challenge has been laid to those who think or perhaps wish themselves worthy.

Pull the sword from the stone.

The Sword in the Stone

15AC - Forged by Unseen hands

"A sword glimmers against its plain background. Gold and wraps of royal blue decorate its grip and cross guard speaking of the importance and history hidden behind it. The blade, as much of it as you can see, seems to be forged from metals beyond the plane of Eternia. Its edge is enough to cut through plated gauntlets like butter and despite best efforts you can't seem to bend or break it.

And yet that blade is embedded, driven into a tomb of rock that does not allow even air to pass between the gaps. The stone seems almost as magical as the sword. Bedrock, foundational, it is not from here and resists efforts towards deforming or alterations. It sits heavily, poking from the dirt, a spire of stone that you can only assume connects to the core of the world itself.

The task is plain, remove the sword from the stone. But it would not simply go to the first one capable. The sword yields to a hero but Meranthe has those to spare. And so each is given an attempt, the process recorded and then the sword returns. Fit for the next champion, for one person to prove themselves best.

Many are deserving, but who deserves it most?

(OOC: Each person can only attempt to pull the sword once, you have a fifteen minute IC window to make your attempt, after which it will reset and you'll find you can no longer even cause it to budge. You may attempt this solo or as a group but no matter what you only get one go per character.

How you remove it is entirely up to you and it is removable, however it will revert to the stone at the end of the fifteen minutes. You may do anything you wish to 'improve' your attempt, use items, sigs or even commit to injuring yourself.

The idea is that multiple people get to make an attempt and the best attempt will be rewarded. Send screenshots/logs of your attempts to uncle.bob on discord. If you are incog you may raise a ticket instead. The winner will be chosen after a few days.)"
