The Jelly-drifters
(Sirenian Tribe Lore)

On many nights in coastal towns at the end of seasons, when the moon is bright and the night sky is dazzling, does the sea awaken. Within its nightly sparkle do lights brighten up the watery abyss. Gentle bobbing underwater lanterns. These mysterious lights had given birth to many folktales; whispers of bringing good fortune, of healthy yields for their crops and of a ripe repopulation of coastal fish.
Yet unbeknownst to them all, this was the work of a lucrative tribe of Sirenians, the Jellyfish clan. Their tribe is composed completely of Jellyfish Mermaids, who had lived for many generations in solitude. Their world in solemn understanding of Yama. They are nomadic by nature, their direction and course in life drafted by the tide itself.
They do not tend to visit the lands, instead choosing to spend their entire lives underwater. Often found sleeping in suspension of the water; on some unfortunate, or perhaps fortunate nights, Jellyfish are whisked away by the very tide that rely drift on. These are deemed chosen by Yama Himself to continue their drift elsewhere in solitude.. Sometimes it is to start a new clan, other times it is to come to land and begin a completely different type of journey.

Under the water, their hair and tendrils mix together in dances of elegance. Their mermaid tails are usually concealed by the bundles of tendrils that adorned their head. Tendrils grew with the seasons, some shedding with their end much unlike hair. Upon the surface, that is the form that they do take afterall.
Their colours vary vastly, however a unique trait is that many of their clans do not develop a true pattern until they have found a bond with another in their lives. Not necessarily love, but something just as powerful.

Rather eccentric in nature, the Jellyfish are outcasts of their own people. Strange and odd, with no real knowledge of the world around them unless they are grabbed and forced to learn it and adjust.
A true definition of go with the flow.
For a Mermaid Tribe, they are notoriously bad swimmers and songstresses. Their spongy skin unable to resist the waves without proper training, which many do not undergo. Their vocal cords strained and underdeveloped due to a life of solitude and lack of practice.  However, their jiggly bodies are incredible at dance and maneuvering. Often seen wobbling around in hypnotizing dances within the sea, clapping their tendrils in unison to Yama's lonely beating heart.

[Entry 1 - Jelloba the Jellyfish.]

"Why did Yama send His waves for Jelloba? On these lands she has been on for near two decades and she still yearns to understand. Twice she had tried to return to them, yet each time the tide washes her ashore Meranthe. Now here she stands, unsure of what to do next.

The world is amazing. INCREDIBLE. It nourishes and supplies, and the land is oh so subtle to the toes. Very ticklish... Maybe.... Maybe... The time for longing had passed, a time of acceptance - Only... SPOILER -- here she sees a new side of you. They scribe blasphemy... They preach of uncertainty. Jelloba finds herself at a crossroad.

Is the lonely Yama, you, truly so jealous of it all?

. . .

Those words did not feel correct to scribe.. This fragmented mind..

Jelloba knows what to do.

She will simply have to ask You the questions.

Easy peasy..

Rightio? Only have to find some magical Coral gate to the underworld or something..."

[Entry 2 - Jelloba, Oathkeeper of Mariana]

"Time seems to swim past Jelloba at a pace she cannot keep up with. The flux of life and its perpetual change is not for the faint of heart. Nothing here is like it was underwater..

It's better.

Jelloba is finally starting to understand why you carried her here... But why did all of it have to be so complicated?

A knight in shining-sea armor oaths to protect Jelloba as the pearl of the Under Sea.

Another lingers mysteriously in the shadows, allowing for her pearl to remain unsullied by the corruption of the world.

A third promises to love her no matter what.

All out of love.
But why must these choices all be so hard?
So difficult?
Jelloba cannot split your love, HER love, between them. An impossible choice to make, one she will not make.

Will this indecisiveness make her lose them all?
One by one?

They tell her no.
That they will stand by her to the bitter end.

Yet what end is more bitter than heartbreak?
Jelloba is unsure...

Yama, Jelloba will see you soon.
She will protect the dreams, song and dance of your people and when she does meet you-
she will ask why you afflicted our people with such gentle, delicately loving hearts?

For her own heart can only take so much.
For now, she'll just keep drifting.
Maybe answers will come.
Just maybe.."
