Our God Blessed Democracy!
#1
It started as rumors, a small cult, skirmishes amongst various numbers before finally...
Hope-revived nonmagus refugees and faithful worshippers.

Quote:
"Finally, a place where we have a voice. One, where the magi is as gifted as I. Where all upon this sacred land can make a difference. I, once laid dying to sickness... But my prayers were answered. I saw my health restored, and from then I knew that things would be different. So, it is with pride that I reach out to every ear, far and wide amongst our land. Lend me your support, and I shall make our home strong and prosperous.
For our Patron has protected us when the times were rough...
For our Patron had wrought food, when the crops had dried...
For our Patron had instilled hope, as we fell unto despair...

Thus, it is with his guidance that I know you will lend me your support. Vote for me, as your next president... And I, shall let all of Meranthe know of our greatness."
The tidbit of the speech was spoken by a nonmagical named Targis Wynfield. Nothing overtly impressive manages to reach general news concerning them aside from a religious leaning outside of the more renowned Pantheon and Constants alike.

With that, came words along the undertow of Meranthe, from the skeeviest of alley corners to high towers of its elite. An impressive number of nonmagi congregated around a faith surrounding an obscure Patron, managing to accumulate magi in their midst and even those claiming ascension by its touch. Soon, a momentous occasion would dictate its future development:

The First Election Cycle
[Image: 7fY4iGg.png]

Quote:Election Cycle Requirements / Mechanics:
All participants must be at least of Settler position or higher before election cycle begins to participate.
To successfully enter the political running, at least 3'000 influence must be sent to the Patron during the election cycle.
The election participant with the most influence sent during the election cycle will conduct a speech (Charisma Check) that will reflect public opinion
If there is a tie, both candidates will conduct a speech with Charisma Checks and public opinion as the deciding factor
Each term is 4 IC Years (28 Days)
After each term, all individuals in President and Councilmen roles are changed back to Settlers and the cycle begins again.

President
Must send more than ALL other participants during the election cycle
Takes the position of face of the settlement and tasked with most of the heavy decision-making on a day-to-day basis, for the betterment of Antefinem and her people.
Ultimately must be accepted by the Patron

Councilman
Must send more than ALL but 1 participant during the election cycle
Serves as direct aid to the President in all matters for the betterment of Antefinem and her people.
Can be up to 2 at a time.
Official Position Mechanics
Unlike the election cycle, becoming an official is much more fast-paced and dependent on one's intent to act with intent above and beyond their peers. The roles are as follows:

Officer
Quote:All Guardsman positions must be full, and more influence than all other Guardsman must be sent to the Patron. If there are no more available officer positions, you must send more influence than the current officer-ranked member with the lowest amount of influence sent.

Guardsmen
Quote:Must lend at least 1000 influence to the Patron
If there are no Guardsmen slots remaining/available, then they must lend more than the "Guardsman"-ranked individual with the least influence sent to the Patron.
If an Officer ranked above Guardsman is deposed by another individual, then they will be demoted and take the role of Guardsman. If there are still no more Guardsmen slots available during this, the individual with the least amount of influence sent is demoted back to Settler

Election Cycle Begins on 1/29/25 Ends on 2/2/25 @ 4PM CST (Prone to change)
(Rescheduled to end on 2/5/25 @ 7PM CST)

Quote:Note:
  • If there are no individuals that send enough influence to break the prerequisites, an NPC will take the leadership position and be RP/Narrated accordingly.
  • To show support for another character within the election, send your support (influence) to them directly, and then have them sent their influence to the Patron
  • Influence sent before or after an election cycle does not affect elections (Exception: If there are OOC complications that will prevent participation)
  • Known individuals from outside the settlement suspected of attempting to interfere with election results will be disqualified from political running campaigns

The Second Election Cycle
(The 2160AC Election)
Despite the tragedy that beset Antefinem on its initial debut? The Spire still stands, repaired and furnished. Amongst the populace, the phrase "Never Forget" is oft spoken in reverence to those who lost their lives to the Oni menace, protecting their loved ones on that fateful day. As we approach the next election cycle, let us remember those who fell with a moment of silence.

Our current President Melia Hajrudin has focused their term on standing up Antefinem's reconstruction and rehabilitation of the wounded since the catastrophe. A council was established with even talk of a militia being put into the works carried out with Harbinger serving on their Senate. During her run, diplomatic talks were conducted with Fortune to establish Vassalage and prevent future attacks on the isle. With a Tithes system implemented and taxmen actively seeking payment for those who own land upon settlement grounds -- The President has issued a widespread pardon of all owed tithes.

All positions bestowed upon the settlers of Antefinem by the President will be honored through and beyond the election, however, all members of the Senate (Councilman+) will be cycled out.

The Fourth Election Cycle
(The 2168AC Election)
After two successful terms as President, Harbinger steps down to endorse a successor Euxenos Krima. During their time, they had been faced with complications such as the Antefinem-Jotunheim Cold War, Skirmishes against the emerging Nameless Circle, Giant Terror Attacks, & Peace Talks with the newly established monarchy of Altharim to avert the consequences to the initial declaration of war.

The rapid development of the Commercial Centre, enabled for the preparation of new businesses such as the La Krima Kasino, Cuisines and Boat Merchants, to move in. During the previous presidency, annual taxes were forgiven to further bolster the economy during times of strain in the face of adversity, with a interweaving of political statutes between the isle of Antefinem and Fortune.

In direct competition with Presidential Candidate Krima, is one Eric Malgrin, a nonmagi of the Vanguard party intent on taking a strong militarization stance in favor of nonmagus forces developing means against magus threats to their nation. With speeches looming around the corner, it proves uncertain as to whom will win out over the other.

All positions bestowed upon the settlers of Antefinem by the President will be honored through and beyond the election, however, all members of the Senate (Councilman+) will be cycled out.
