Final gasps shudder at the core, life faded and ended. The soul rises to greet death.
“I greet you as foe.” The fool yelled to the fallen. A pointless endeavour, as futile as attempting to drink the sea with a ale mug.
The soul eventually gave, not his to begin with for it had a journey to undergo. The spirit meanwhile, lingered. Wracked with hatred, with guilt.. It wanted to forgive, but it was oh so hard.
Something which witnessed, grinned. A folly commonly seen, the regrets of the fallen and those whom had felt betrayed. For in this case, none could say it was not the case. “Hate them then, they deserve it. The one you loved, even they scorned you. There is nothing left for you but to ha-”
Then came the light. A hand reached out to the fool, to comfort. Confusion wracked the little spirit temporarily lifting the swirling maelstrom of anger and wrath that had gripped its essence, for it had not seen them before. A face unknown and yet so familiar.
Golden hair and robes of ivory, a visage kind and forgiving akin to that which he had lost so long ago.. His innocence.. Or, at least.. Something akin to it.
“You forgave when i showed you the good it did. You stood when you could..”
The sinister voice butt in again “And yet you erred. So terribly.. Do you wish to cling unto your Foolishness? Or would you rather attain the revenge your heart desires.”

The space grew still..

A long moment passed, images flashing of love.. Of loss and tragedy. But also of triumph, of friendship and success. The truest trial of the spirit. Judgement was close at hand.
“I was a fool, i trusted when i should not have.. But in so doing i remained who i was.” The sinister voice sneered in anger. But it was soon dispelled, undone by the spirit of the fool.
The radiant man smiled, a smile so warm it could defrost the wastes of the continent’s north. “Now say it, and truly mean it this time.”
The spirit looked on towards the edge of the space, ahead towards that which no longer was his to grasp. A few moments passed as he stood in silence.. “I was there.. I existed, and i forgive you.”
Serenity spread across the dark space, suffering and anger, the tragedy of it all.. His sins, his mistakes and his betrayal. All of it.. Faded. The tears of the spirit flowed again. His being now filled with joy for once in oh so long. True joy, to forgive.. To cherish and to understand it all.
They walked away from the edge, towards the realm of spirits, his tears did cause flowers to bloom, a trail that represented the steps he had taken in life.
