Within Delphinan and Faeborne culture, each season is welcomed through festival, rite or gathering. Many engage in this privately amongst their families or loved ones at solstice or equinox. Through cooked meals, rituals, pleasant festive gathering the turn of each season every fifteen or so months, it is a traditional and vital part of life within the ancient realm. Many years has the realm's Heir Luminary hosted larger, public welcoming extending beyond the purview of citizens in order to reach a larger audience. Years trekked and trekked and trekked and the upcoming winter in four cycle's time resonates with this budding era of internal efforts... and changes to the Heir Luminary's approach.

What does it mean to give a gift to others? What does it mean to receive a gift? Stranger or loved one, from self or otherwise, the significant of the act and making of a gift is vital within the context of seasonal celebrations. It reaches the soul or spirit in ways, stokes essence and feeling and memory and body in ways most acts cannot. The upcoming winter settles around that, but with a catch: those who participate will receive a gift in secret. There is no restriction on quality, but it is recommended that those put considerable thought and effort into what they exchange. Monetary value is not the only way to truly appreciate another. Other means are strongly encouraged- be it crafts, song, or otherwise. Even spoils from a dangerous venture are welcomed.

 

The rite of gift exchange is limited to citizens of Delphina (Dal'Thala, Nereides, Arcadia, other villages) and foreigners who receive an invitation (soon to come). The party, however, is public (within line of the capital city's laws)! Those who attend may come with gifts if they desire, and those participating in the exchange rite may also bring more than one gift, but the exchange will be the centerpiece of the event. There is plenty of time to prepare and the means to do so will remain active until spring time (12/7) before all are informed of who they will have to curate their gift for.
