State of Eternia - Meranthe
#1
Across the planet, and the outer realms...
❂ Following the Extinction events within Meranthe, the Blacklight's ritual persists. While no longer a visible barrier, its effects in fundamentally transforming the Demon race continues in permanence. Roughly ninety-nine percent of demonkind have regressed or perished entirely, and these numbers will continue to wane.
Furthermore, perhaps unexpectedly, the influence and strength of the Occult itself has been blunted, as the source for this affinity undergoes rapid change. Those attuned to the Arcane will find that its essence is growing similar to that of Chaos magic, fusing and merging in kind, in process and transformative; the destructive aspects are becoming more external, towards that around them, rather than directly influencing the user's psyche into lapses of insanity (though this can and still does happen, depending on circumstance and the person- often attracting the deranged by its nature). It is still a dangerous art, just as that taboo half of the Arcane is, but a world without Demonkind means more uncertainties. Can it even be called Occult magic anymore with its masters in ruin?

❂ The Demon King, Indras's fate is assumed to be death. Despite contingencies in place for the unlikely event of defeat, such as the gathering of the Perfect Demon's kaorblades within the fortress of Zokkrak, the soul of the Perfect Demon does not respond, either unable to or rejecting the call. Immediate usurpation followed as a power vacuum was left in Atrellya; the Demon Clans are divided once more. Devotees and fanatics continue to seek a return of the Abyssal Dragon nonetheless.

❂ Faithful of Mestra hear their music once more, faintly. An abundance of life and color nourishes Meranthe in the aftermath of near annihiliation; a Spring like no other has passed, and the seeds have been sewn for generations more.

❂ The Empire of Aen has fallen, entirely, taken by a great flood, the circumstances of which are unclear; what remains has been divvied up into separate island-states, but the monarchy is lost to the histories. A fate similar to that of Esshar, no longer a great world power. This makes Meranthe the most influential force within the continent, perhaps Eternia at large, and calls for both conquest and aid to bring the Continent of Aegis into a stable golden age become more vocal as opportunity presents itself.
