In the year of 2133, the Demon King Idras made a foreboding declaration. And he made good on his promise; summoning his feared Demon Sages from across the world of Eternia, a great force of demons were gathered, and two years later the armies of Mordred's inheritor fell upon the north. Even the hardened warriors of the Citadel couldn't prevent the slaughter as their kingdom was made ash and many of their prominent magi were either killed or crippled into irrelevancy; then followed the glittering city of Prospera, turned to stone, then the Final Frontier, once the capital of artificery, now a deep tomb of lost treasures and knowledge.
In that time, a generation have endured being under constant siege. In times of war and adversity sparks of greatness might emerge; perhaps a hero or villain, or somewhere between, but in these moments where the fate of the world is at stake...

What tune will they play for you?
As it stands, Three Great Powers remain. Considered the most influential, prominent, and enduring against the siege of Atrellya thus far; these are the Republic, the Kingdoms of Delphina, and the Ruby Empire. In strong support is Arcadia and Serenity; yet no matter the size or hardships a kingdom endures, as we have seen a lone magi's actions can turn the tides.
New faces have emerged, too, to join the roster across the land. Some familiar, some not so. As the pantheon's involvement with this catastrophic events becomes more direct, so too are showings of their aetheric blessings. Then there are the Oscuri that somehow escaped their imprisonment within the Hollow World. And a mysterious, serpentine race, with a name not yet known to Meranthe; commonly referred to as the Gorgons, drawn in by the current events...

See the original lore. You predate this written history; before the rise of Sareen and the Azraelites of Valmasia, shortly after the end of the Divine War and the defeat of Azrael.
You were imprisoned within the Hollow World, and in that time you were experimented on and altered; when reproducing, your children are born with shameful black lines, rather than the vibrant green of Azrael. It is however possible for them to become a true Oscuri if they undergo a necromantic ritual after leading a life in service to the Morninglord.
Your imprisonment was ended by the Eleven that made contact with Vdali, an exchange made and a deal struck, perhaps to their regret. Since escaping your imprisonment you have found refuge within the Tower of Aetius and the neighbouring settlement of the Mementos of Mortyl. You are an organized force of warriors that follow a command structure; what you do next is to be determined by your Vindicators.
You may not practice Faith unless your rieka turns to black, empty lines, for your Faith is the Art of Necromancy.
