The Once-Prophet's Offer
#1

...It is understated. Postings put up in just about every settlement in Meranthe, even those who have particular contention with the woman who seems to have sponsored their placement. An open offer, to any who may require it or desire it.

Quote:
Hello. This document was written by Aaliyah Khalas. In all likelihood, you know my name.

Often do I hear about this person or that person wielding a nyctorre weapon, justifying it's use, proclaiming that it is turning the power of the Fel against them. Allow me to explain something, in a manner that is public and open for all to cite as necessary.

Nyctorre is, fundamentally, nigh identical in Lifestream impact to an undead. The creation of Nyctorre involves the theft of a soul from the Lifestream, dragged unto the world to be bound unto a chunk of Arcanium in a way nigh-identical to how the forging of an undead functions. The sole difference lies in the fact that Nyctorre has no interest in giving the soul autonomy or freedom-- it tortures it, and in that suffering, the soul provides the dark power Nyctorre weapons are so known for.

There is no such thing as 'purified nyctorre'. If you are receiving any benefit from the material, it is because the weapon you are wielding is host to a trapped and tortured soul. If this soul is removed, the metal left behind is simply a chunk of Arcanium. What this means is that any weapon imbued with nyctorre is in effect an undead weapon.

I am capable of severing the binds that hold such things in place. If you are in ownership of an item of such dark provenance, you may come to me, Aaliyah Khalas, and request that the soul within be freed. I do not care what nation you are from nor what opinion you have of my continued life-- consider this offer a public service available to anyone within Meranthe who is willing and able to let me see their weapon for long enough to sever the soul tethers, and walk away after in peace.

If you are interested, send me a letter or visit me within Martyr's Vigil and Gloomlight Grove. Any who come for the purposes of Nyctorre purification have my word and vow that they will not be harmed for their good deed. I do not believe that a world where doing the right thing is punished is one that I support the creation of.

Time will tell if this offer is taken up, or if the pages will simply fade from noticeboards, another forgotten bit of parchment in the annals of Meranthe.
