By decree of the ruling King and Queen, a newly appointed, more elite force of sailors have been undergoing years of training. From learning to crew and eventually captain a ship, trained in combat from ship to soil, there are no finer sailors that the Kingdom of Fortune could ask for. These sailors are taught from a young age the traditions and methods to make them masters of the sea, and that to honor their post is to honor Enarr and their heritage. Pylaen beliefs also worm their way in, the constant of Hope constantly in the hearts of those caught in rough waters.
During their first years of training they took part on harsh sailings of the seas, from performing various roles aboard a ship to exploration training, such as being tasked to find their way home all by the guiding star of House Emeraldi [Vetra]. As time went on, their training increased in difficulty and their loyalties tested, from their skills in sword, gun, fist, or staff to their fighting spirit. Rumors circulate that a final trial has the aspirants stranded on islands, though this is unconfirmed and denied when questioned.
Those who find themselves approved are considered amongst the most promising of Fortune's navy, entrusted to defend the royal family of Emeraldi to their dying breath. With their training having begun at such a young age, many of them grew up with some familiarity to the next generation of the house, those princes and princesses whom they would be entrusted to protect.
To stand as a High Corsair, a warden of the sea and of the royal house of Fortune, is considered among the highest honors.
