The Ishiko family was formed and lived long in the lands of Sheng, giving them their sense of honor and spiritualism.
With traditions, beliefs and history forged from their time roaming the continent of Sheng, then spreading outward to the world,
the Ishiko family is born into familial customs and molded around their environment.
The name "Ishiko", or "little stone", was derived from the gravel paths the first Ishikos treaded while exploring Yurhira.
A family of nomads with a history of being able to acclimate to any land they explore or chose to reside in, each generation taking custom and culture offered to them by their parents and incorporating it with who they are.
Due to the original unified nomadic life the family had in their first few generations, family is sacred to each member as they are held in the highest regard. From ensuring none are left behind to protecting each other from bandit, beast and bloodshed.
Once the disunification began to start in the Blue Islan Era of the Ishiko history, the houses began to separate through the next eras. Spreading out to Herizu, Izhura, Yurhira, Blue Isles, Xuantong, Jianghu and outside Sheng entirely. The houses of the family remained unified under the name, but had less and less contact as the years progressed. With the possibility that generations wouldn't know other houses of Ishiko existed outside of their homeland, it was unsurprising if any same-sect fourth generation houses did not know each other.

Due to the strong beliefs, a sense of honor and duty surrounding the concept of family etched into custom and morals, it is common for an Ishiko to adopt any who they deemed close enough to being family or who wanted to give a family to those without. Holding the idea that families are the greatest joy known to creation, the Ishiko family is a mix of blood and water in that they are as equally adopted as they are born.
As tradition dictates, once a head of house/hold dies, each of their children becomes a new head of house. Those heads of house then have influence over their children and onward as their head of house/hold* reigned over them and their affairs. As such, the generations have been allowed to wander and fulfill their nomadic desires to their heart's content.
Footnote: *Head of House is the eldest member within that branch of Ishiko family that was the previous head of house/hold's child.
The difference between a head of house and head of household is the length of service to the family. New heads start off as a head of house; after twenty years as reigning head of house, they rise to head of household in title only.

One of the houses of the Ishiko family roamed the world and found the lands of Meranthe.
This new branch of the Ishiko family is related to the current Ishiko household run by Oliphr Ishiko, but only by their common ancestor from around five generations prior- thus making this house a distant relative to the current house residing in the Silent Expanse.
This does not mean either house has control over the other, both houses are allowed to act independently from one another.

This new house of Ishikos can have one new head of house, a partner and a handful of children. (Between 1-7 characters total.)
The head of house is the one born or adopted by the previous head of house/hold, so any race can be chosen.*
There will need to be some backstory/character communication between members of the house to establish a common backstory as you are all one family and would know these things already prior to arriving in Meranthe.
(Ishiko tradition allows new heads of house to adopt their nieces/nephews, should the children's parents and the elder head of house/hold has died, been missing for years or abandoned the family.)
*Some races, for Meranthe lore reasons, cannot be in the family.
