ORIGIN

Sent from the heavens were two siblings: Yugao and Lao Bu, dragons blessed with the power of Qi, also known as mana. They used it to guide mankind of Fengjixan, showing mastery over elements and metaphysical aspects of life in order to create a country of magi. Their domain spanned throughout the vast northeast regions of Sheng, where they led a gathering of clans. Yugao - the Light and Lao Bu - the Shadow. Two opposing ends of the spectrum, growing further apart as their characteristics grew more prominent. Yugao was kind; Lao Bu embodied greed. Benevolence turned to arrogance, and arrogance to avarice.

This caused discourse between two groups, that of which soon turned into violence. Dragon Yugao couldn't accept the sacrifice of it's people for war, protecting the budding magi from harm. Anticipating this, Lao Bu set out a planned attack that exposed their relatives' weaknesses, able to land a fatal blow on the draconic entity during their mighty battle dubbed 'The Disturbance of Fengjixan' (风纪仙的扰乱).

However, the kind dragon too was not without plan. As a last resort, Lao Bu was lured towards the Yugao clan. Using the place as a deathbed, the parting message of the embodiment of Qi was to consume it's tail; which the fellow members followed after some deliberation.

This has had immediate effect in the budding magi; most of which sprouting draconic tails of various shapes and sizes with horns to match their attained ancestry of a Drakanite (龙石).

With their combined efforts, the Yugao clan was able to seal Lao Bu within Yugao's remains, all of which has turned into mountains that sprout around and protect the current country of Fengjixan. The dragon ancestry in the country has been revered as noble ever since, leading the country into an era of prosperity.

CULTURE

The culture of Fengjixan is rich, a by-product of its golden age ushered by the great philosopher and historian, Zhou Di and musician Ying Kan; it is common for its citizens to recite proverbs and the likes because of this. They adhere to much of tradition Sheng customs, respect and honor central to their society and majority observing Sheng religions like the Fourfold Path and the Illuminated; however above all, Yugao is celebrated as a deity and the father of Fengjixan. Every five years they celebrate the life of Yugao in a ceremony known as the Duānwǔ jié (端午节) or to foreigners, the Dragon Festival.

CULTIVATION

Inspired by the story of the Yugao clan, a group of peasants adopted the philosophy of the 'Dragon Way' (龙道). As those of the Yugao had ascended beyond humanity, they would too would do the same, with training and meditation. From mere peasants to great warriors, they conquered body, mind and soul ascending to heights as great as Mount Tai itself. The warriors of the Dragon Way grew in numbers and served as an elite group of mercenaries for the royal family. For years they served as protectors of Fengjixan battling unorthodox creatures and evildoers. As the nation fell into a time of peace and no longer were they needed; dispatched from duty they looked to serve another way. In the countryside they formed a school where they spread their knowledge to anyone who wished to learn. This was the first cultivation sect. Tales of their acts went on to inspire common folk of Fengjixan and before long more cultivators were born.
